August 29, 1990
The Traffic Commission held their monthly meeting on August
29, 1990. Those present were: Bob Sobba, Wally Cory, Charles
Gray, Mike Gable, Schuyler Enochs and Grant Gibbons. Guests
present were: Marty Christensen, Glenn Petersen and Lt. Lamb.
The following items were discussed and acted upon:
1. A letter from Marty Christensen and Glenn Petersen was
discussed concerning bus parking at 1017 Arthur. Mr. Petersen
and Mr. Christensen also presented oral arguments during the
discussion. The Commission proposed drafting a letter for the
Mayor's signature, addressed to Regional Manager, Duane Daniels,
which would limit bus parking at this address to one bus. If one
bus parking cannot be accomplished„ then new facilities must be
found.
2. A request for a crosswalk at the Old Jefferson School
across Everett was reviewed. The request was initiated by a
concerned senior citizen.
The Committee felt that a crosswalk at this location does
not meet the Code for Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The
Committee will reconsider its position if the Old Jefferson
School project is developed.
3. A letter from a concerned citizen expressing problems at
Willow and Ohio was read and reviewed.
A letter of response from the Commission President will be
mailed to the citizen.
4. A 1 etter from Joyce Dick (1604 Fi 1 lmore ) was read and
reviewed. Mrs. Dick expressed concern over visability and
traffic parking at 16th and Fillmore.
The Commission recommended that the following steps be
taken:
a. Write a letter to the Caldwell School District outlining
teacher parking problems in that area.
b. Place a"no parking" stripe back 20' from intersection.
c. Remove overhanging limbs in the area.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 a.m.
