HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-28-1991 TRAFFIC COMMISSION MINUTESTRAFFIC COMMISSION August 28, 1991 Present: Vezzoso, Gable, Gray, Sobba, Cory, Gibbons, and Enochs. OLD BUSINESS 1. Cory reported on Traffic Safety Conference. a. School zones. b. Setting speed limits. c. Construction traffic control. 2. A discussion of traffic and pedestrian control for Sacajawea School was held. a. Need speed limit sign on Illinois (N). b. Need pedestrian access on Ohio possibly a sidewalk. c. Need to asphalt pedestrian access on Illinois next to Cemetary. 3. Golf Course - Rick Sweaney has made several suggestions for Fairview Golf Course parking. NEW BUSINESS l. Letter from Les Al1en discussed Wally Cory will respond (possible striping for turn lane or crosswalk). 2. Letter from Janet Mackey discussed. Wally Cory will respond presently Logan is scheduled for improvements in 1994). 2a. Recommendation - If right of way available, may be able to asphalt a path until permanent street improvements are made. Commission feels it will take a team effort to solve problem. MOVED by Gable, SECONDED by Gray to research cost and then try to get PTO to underwrite cost. MOTION PASSED 3. Letter from Idamas Walker concerning a possible four way stop at Logan and Kimball. Commission feels that this does not meet criteria for a four way stop. 4. Sobba presented a plan to move crosswalks on Blaine and 23rd. MOVED by Gibbons, SECONDED by Gray to move crosswalks down Blaine to the other side of Twenty-third to i facilitate pedestrian and auto movement during busytimes. MOTION PASSED 5. Twenty-first Street problems were discussed. No actiontaken. 6. State Highway Commission meetings. MOVED by Gable,SECONDED by Gray that the Traffic Commission be thegrouptorepresenttheCityofCaldwellatStateHighwayCommissionmeetings. MOTION PASSED Announcements: On September 13, 1991, at 12:00 Noon, there wi 1 1 be a StateTrafficLightPresentation (City Hall). Meeting adjourned at 8:10 a.m.
