Old Business: New Business: Staff Reports: Golf Professional Brett Williams reported that season pass sales are approaching the goal of 250 sales. At this time, there have been 24 unrestricted passes sold, 18 Junior passes and nearly 200 of the standard and senior restricted passes. It is anticipated that the goal will be achieved in the next month as the season really ramps up. The feedback has generally been quite positive. This has led to an increase in weekend business on non-tournament weekends of approximately 40%. The result is the course has recorded its first"cash- positive'results in many years. One minor challenge Brett is working to address is not having times available for the unlimited pass holders. He is doing this by limiting tournaments on weekend mornings. Brett also reported on many of the excellent opportunities for lessons with Pete's work. Currently, there are 20-25 kids participating in the First Tee of Idaho at Purple Sage; there are 24 ladies in the evening classes and many more inquiring about upcoming opportunities, a special class will be held for Caldwell City employees on Tuesday evenings in May,etc. The increase traffic has been very positive. Several of the ladies taking lessons are new and are being invited to join the Caldwell Ladies Golf Association. Additional information Brett shared included that the greens are set to be punched on April 22-24,2019. Marshalls will be assisting at the course every day starting in May. Finally,Ken Wheeler is down a maintenance person and is heavily recruiting. . I ' Golf Professional Roger Garner reported that the greens were punched recently and should be recovering quickly with the improving weather. General conditions at the course are excellent and recognition should be given to Ken and the staff for the excellent work they are doing. Approximately 85 season passes for Fairview have been sold so far this season. This represents an increase from the previous season. Roger will be reaching out to past sponsors of the score cards to see if they would like to renew their sponsorship. Roger continues to coach the Caldwell High School team. The season started with 15 boys, but through attrition, they are down to 7 currently. Most are beginners, so Roger anticipates reaching out the to the middle schools in Caldwell to generate interest and starting earlier. Additionally, Fairview will have a PGA Juniors team with 10 kids that have joined. This is great news because in the past, the team was combined with Centennial Golf Course in Nampa. Superintendent: No report this meeting Report on Men's Association: No report at this meeting. Report on Women's Association: Jeanne reported that the Women's Association is focused on providing service in the community. They were involved with Meals on Wheels at Christmas and projects for course beautification! May 7th, 2019 will be the CLGA Spring Fling at Fairview Golf Course. June 2151&22nd,2019 will be the 2-Lady Best Ball Tournament. There has been very positive feedback on the website and Flyer! Sue Kushlan reported on the Tree Project where in individuals can be memorialized with a tree purchased in their name and planted on the course with the name of the individual included on a special plaque in the pro shop. This has been very well received and there have been ten trees spoken for with nine slated to be planted in the Fall in memory of individuals. The Women's Association will be selling trees and seeking donations at major events at the golf courses throughout the season. The Rose Garden at Fairview will be trimmed and have mulch laid around the plants to add additional beauty and control. Gretchen Gilbert is leading out on that project. The board suggested that the CLGA consider seeking donated fabric and use the wood chips from tree removal at the course for the Rose Garden project. Finally,Jeanne reported that the Women's Association is growing with new members coming out. To continue to attract new members, Jeanne and Roger will work with the city to have a link to the CLGA page on the city's website. City of Caldwell Report: Chuck Stadick of the city council reported that budget discussions are ramping up and formal meetings will be held next month. He encouraged members of the board to email him any suggestions or requests. This led to further discussion about cart path replacement and improvement. While this is a very expensive process, the board felt like it should be a priority for capital expenses for next year. General Discussion Items: It was reported that Purple Sage anticipates printing new score cards with the new tee markers (there are six tees to choose from now). The tee marker colors have changed to encourage golfers to play from the most appropriate tees for their skill level while avoiding old stereotypes. The course has been rated again by the IGA as well. Brett reported that he will be organizing and running the men's league this year. As in years past, there will be a two-man league on Tuesday evenings and a four-man league on Wednesday evenings. Start time each evening will be 6:00 PM. Adjournment: Jeanne Cridebring moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 AM, Doreen Burnham seconded the motion, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be June 19th, 2019 at 8:00 AM.
