1. Request "NO PARKINGTHIS SIDE OF STREET" LaFond to Laurel — Max Lang -Simplot
Trucking
Simplot Transportation is located at 323 LaFond St in Caldwell. The property boarders
Kit Ave on the West side running South to Laurel St. Max Lang(Simplot)requests"NO
PARKING THIS SIDE OF STREET" signage be placed on the East side of Kit Ave from
LaFond St to Laurel St. Simplot has a 300,000 gal fuel storage on the West side of their
property next to Kit Ave. Simplot Transportation department sees this as a possible
danger should a vehicle catch fire in the near vicinity.
The Street department stated that this section of road was signed"NO PARKING
THIS SIDE OF STREET"previously and do not know why or who took the signs down.
A motion was made and TC agreed unanimously to replace the signage in accordance
with the City Sign Policy; Simplot may purchase the signs at$60.00 per sign and the
Street dept. will install them.
ACTION: Gordon will communicate the determination of the TC to Simplot and follow
up according to Simplot's decision.
2. Dark Crosswalk and heavy traffic on S. Indiana in front of CHS—Randy Deleon
There are two intersections on South Indiana with crosswalks to Caldwell High School
(CHS). One at Larch Street and one at Fairoaks Drive. Officer Deleon is concerned about
the crosswalk at Fairoaks Drive. The crossing is dark outside of daylight hours making it
difficult for drivers to see pedestrians crossing. There is heavy traffic entering and
leaving CHS in mornings and afternoons.
TC viewed the intersection on the City web map. There is a streetlight at the intersection
that appears to be obstructed by an over grown tree. The tree is in an area belonging to
the HOA.
There also appears to be opportunity to incorporate changes to the traffic flow at the high
school to reduce traffic congestion at peak times. A motion was made and TC agreed
unanimously to have Code enforcement address the tree issue and have Officer Deleon
work with CHS on a better drive plan for school grounds traffic flow.
ACTION: Brian will have Code Enforcement address getting the tree trimmed away
from the light.
Officer Deleon will work with CHS on a drive plan for school grounds traffic flow.
