Linden Street Caldwell, ID 83605 Email:kschara@cityofcaldwell.org 208-459-9779 Date: August 211, 2018 Time: 12:00 Noon — 1 :00 PM Location: Caldwell Industrial Airport— Hubler Terminal Conference Room Commission Members Present: Phil Fouts, Rob Herndon, Steve.Kahn, Al Rice, Greg Swanson, Rob Oates— Airport Manager, Kathy Schara—Airport Administrative Secretary Commission Members Absent: Chris Allgood (City Council Rep.), Marty Koch Guests: Brent Orton — Public Works Director, Toby Epler—JUB Chairman Phil Fouts called the meeting to order at 12:04 pm. 1. Minutes of May 2018 Airport Commission Meeting Motion was made and seconded to accept the May 2018 Minutes. Motion passed. 2. Airport Improvement Program/AIP30 Runway Rehab—Toby Epler Toby Epler provided handouts and updated the Commission on the current AIP 30 Runway Rehab project. The contractors are ready to start the project, which will be completed in 3 phases— • Phase 1 — (portions of both sections of alpha will be closed): 1 a—Aug. 13-15; 1 b—Aug. 16-19 • Phase 2: Aug. 20-Oct.5 runway closed • Phase 3: Oct.5-8 nights — (portions of alpha will be closed for markings) More specific information is available in the July issue of Airport News, which is posted on our webpage, www.caldwellairport.com. 3. Lateral (Canal) Relocation Update— Brent Orton Brent Orton reported that there is no change on the lateral relocation project at this time. Brent Orton also gave a brief budget update to Commission members, and answered questions. 4. Building Standards / Review of Draft Discussion was held regarding the direction of the draft document, which was previously sent to the members for input and review. The general consensus of the Commission was that these should be regarded as guidelines, as opposed to a regulatory document. No action was taken. rt to 2 5. Buildable Lots Update— Rob Oates Rob Oates gave a review of the recent lease of bare ground by several individuals and builders for the purpose of building new hangars. Additionally, several new leases are in process for the same purpose. 6. Announcements— Rob Oates • The US Air Force is considering using Caldwell Airport as an auxiliary field in a new program to encourage and facilitate new entry-level pilot training. More information will follow, should this possibility come to fruition. • Boise FSDO Operations Manager recently visited with Rob regarding various subjects of common interest, including radio frequencies.
