HomeMy WebLinkAboutURA RES 2017-39 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-3" A RESOLUTION OF THE CALDWELL URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY A(J'FHORIZIN(.-., TtlE AWARD OF BID TO BARNES CONSTRUCTION CONCERNING CEILING REPAIRS AT 217 SOUTH, KIMBALL FOR PHASE 11 OF 'THE PROJECT. WHEREAS, the original bid by Barnes Construction was approved by the I.Jrban Renewal Agency on September 11, 2017 in the amount of$19,525,00 (Phase I & 11) for ceiling repairs at 217 S. Kimball, and WHEREAS, after further research, it was determined that the ceiling repairs in the front foyer portion of the building (Phase 11) must be re-evaluated for an alternate material rather than sheetrock; and WHEREAS, the back portion of' the building repairs (Phase 1) were completed under the original bid and invoiced in the amount of$12,317.00; and WHEREAS, an amended bid has been received from Barnes Construction for the foyer portion of the project (Phase 11) for the installation of'a T-bar grid ceiting in the amount of$8,907.00 (a difference of$1,699 frorn the original bid); THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Caldwell Urban Renewal Agency authorizes the award of bid for Phase 11 of the ceiling L, repairs made a part hereof and set forth in full. Thank you for considering Barnes Construction to do this project for you.This bid includes all labor and materials needed to complete the following work to the Painted Lady Salon building at 217 S. Kimball Ave. Caldwell. 1. Install T-bar grid ceiling in the front area,approximately 24 x 44 at about 10' high. 2. Install drop ducting and grids for HVAC intake and vents. 3. Install 6-3-lamp 2x4 lay in fixtures with XPS T-8 lamps. 4. Supply wire and conduit to fixtures and seismic wire to hang fixtures. S. Clean up and haul off any trash due to the work we perform. TOTAL BID$8,907.00 Payments: To be paid in full upon completion of work. Anything not specified in this bid is not included in this bid. A. Extra charges will be assessed for any drawings or engineering that may be required by local building official. B. The building permit if any will be obtained by(x) Barnes Construction, but the cost of the permit is not included in this bid or () Owner and paid by Owner. C, Any alterations or deviations from the above described work and any charges requested by the engineers, inspectors or the owner that involve additional labor or materials will be an extra charge above the sum mentioned in this contract. Labor will be charged at $40.00 per man hour and materials will be cost plus 200/6 and subcontractors will be cost plus 20%. D. Owner will be responsible to supply insurance to cover the building materials and the new structure during the process of construction. Barnes Construction will provide liability insurance and workmen's compensation insurance. E. These are the entire terms of the contract and there are no other agreements between the parties. F. ACCEPTANCE. The terms and conditions hereof constitute an offer by Barnes which may be accepted by owner by signature below, not later than 30 days from the date hereof, at Barnes' sole option, by authorizing the work to proceed, and when so accepted will constitute a contract between Barnes and owner. Kimball Ave. Caldwell. 1. Demo water damaged areas on ceilings as needed. 2. Remove light fixture ect.on ceilings in areas where work is to be done. 3. overlay the existing the ceilings in the front main work area with high ceiling and work area in back with the low ceiling with Y2" sheetrock.Tape and texture these areas with a daub style texture.We will use zip strip around the edges that will butt up to the existing walls and trim so we don't have to tape to the walls and create work on the walls. 4. Repair water damaged areas on the walls and ceilings in the bathroom and on the ceiling in the hallway in front of the bathroom. 5. Paint new ceilings in the two front work areas and the walls and ceilings in the bathroom and the hall in front of the bathroom. 6. Reinstall 64'of existing track lights and 8-new 8',4-lamp fluorescent strip lights with 32-new XPS fluorescent bulbs in the front work area with the high ceiling. 7. Install 5-new 4' low profile LED strip lights in the work area with the low ceiling. 8. Install 1-new 8'fluorescent light in the back hallway. 9. Reinstall the existing light in the bathroom. 10.Clean up and haul off any trash due to the work we perform. TOTAL BID$19,525.00 NOTE: I have not figured in getting any permits as none should be required. All areas to be worked on will need to be cleared of all contents prior to the start of any work.We will need approximately 1 Y2 weeks to complete the work. Do to the nature of the work being done and the condition of the existing ceiling structure we cannot guarantee that there won't be any stress cracking that may occur over time.
