EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLAN
TRUSTEE MEETING
HELD ON APRIL 25, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
Those in attendance: Monica Jones, ElJay Waite, Carol Mitchell,Shelli Stayner, and Connie Puett
DISCUSSION ITEM(S):
• As of March 31, 2017, total assets were $1,896,472, total liabilities were $243,652, the fund
surplus was $1,652,821, and excess reserves were $724,902. These numbers are subject to
change once an IBNR is provided for the report. ElJay requested that the February 2017
report be finalized and sent to DOI. The March 2017 report will be taken to the DOI when
we meet with them in May. After this meeting, the March 2017 report will be finalized and
sent to DOI.
• Discussion about the monthly IBNR that DOI is requiring and whether Mercer needs to
provide this. We will be meeting with the DOI Director on May 11th and ElJay will question
him on this requirement and the associated costs to provide a quarterly IBNR.
• The miscellaneous plan expenses were reviewed and reported in the amount of$21,035.85.
• Mercer reported that as of March 31, 2017, medical costs were running at 79.5% of budget,
which has yielded a surplus of$354,873.
• Discussion about the upcoming renewal. Mercer will prepare renewal options for us to
review by June.
• The City just completed the mandatory measurements for the Wellness Discount Program.
We expect Katie from West Valley/H2U to meet with us soon to update us on the results
and make any recommendations as we move forward.
MOVED by Monica, SECONDED by ElJay to adjourn at 4:10 p.m. The next trustee meeting is
tentatively scheduled for May 25, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
