HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-12-26 Friends of the Depot Minutes APPR VED cc 3 v MINUTES Friends of the Caldwell Train Depot Meeting December 29,2016 PRESENT: Marvin Dennis, Jim Porter, Dave Wilson, Irma Chambers, Stefani Chambers, Margaret Langan, Jerry Langan, Ed Adler, Ina Adler,Jacqueline Hernandez, Debbie Geyer and Mark Pemble. Jim Porter,Acting Chair, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. AGENDA: MOVED by Marvin Dennis,SECONDED by Margaret Langan to approve the agenda as presented. MOTION CARRIED FINANCE REPORT: Debbie Geyer presented the finance report noting the balance of$6,669.41 noting that the four 6-foot tables, 12 chairs, and one 66-inch table was purchased for use within the event center. MOVED by Margaret Langan, SECONDED by Dave Wilson to accept the financial report as presented. MOTION CARRIED OLD BUSINESS: • Night of History After Action Report: Discussion was held concerning the success of the October 2016 Night of History event. Approximately 75 people were in attendance to hear Steve Maughn. Suggestions were given concerning possible program ideas for a 2017 event: o College of Idaho outreach involving the international students. Jim Porter offered to contact Arnold Hernandez at the College of Idaho to see if this option would be feasible for involving College of Idaho students. Involve Caldwell Fine Arts with music for the event. Jackie volunteered to contact Alison at Caldwell Fine Arts if the international program moves forward. o Stefani suggested a local hike featuring prominent historical or geological features. o Repeat of the "Lincoln Speaks" event or ask another "historical character" to present as recommended by the Idaho Historical Society. • Winter Wonderland After Action Report: Chairman Porter and Dave Wilson provided an updated report concerning the Winter Wonderful event. The cookies at the depot were completed distributed by 8:00 p.m. It was noted that approximately 5,000 were in attendance at the event. Debbie reported that Destination Caldwell will assist with the planning of this event in 2017. NEW BUSINESS: Wage e (OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULE FOR 2017) Discussion was held concerning the host/hostess having the option to bring in a "special feature" in the depot during the open house. Suggestions: The "Caldwell Rocks" could hold a painting session during the April open house with Jackie and Irma serving as the host that day. Other ideas: Citizen groups or non-profit organizations, clubs could set up tables for information for displays or activities.
