Chairman Don Tolley called a special meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board
at 4:00 p.m. July 6, 1992.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Don Tolley, Kris Inouye, Bill Moad, Lloyd Nelsen
Shirley Akagi, Edie Stuthiet and Craig Beukelman.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Mike Garman.
Chairman Don Tolley explained the reason for the meeting was so Pro-
Lenny Stroup could answer the complaints on the letter received from
the Caldwell Jr. Golf Board Members.
Lenny first apologized to the Board for having to be subjected to a
letter like this.
Lenny also stated in his 39 years of being a golf pro this is the
first time there has ever been a letter and he felt badly and hurt that
this had taken place.
Lenny said that he only met once with the Jr. Golf Board and that was
March 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Fairview.
Lenny said he was in "Elko for a two day tournament on April 28 so hewas
not at the meeting as stated in the letter.
Lenny said there were alot of things that were not as indicated in the
letter.
Lenny did admit he has a voice that is gruff and no doubt scares some
of the kids, but he has worked with Jrs. for years and has six children
of his own also grand kids but that he does make them mind.
Lenny said he believes in teaching the kids golf etiquette, manners
that he won't allow any bad language used by the young golfers.
Also that he tries to encourage the kids to pick up candy wrappers etc.
in other words help keep the course clean.
Lenny said that it is also untrue that he won't allow the kids in the
clubhouse.
The Board felt that it would be best if Lenny set up a program on
Jr. Golf with Rules, work sheet, also where a practice area is and explain
the ground rules.
Also the Jr. Golf Board should appoint volunteers and make sure these
people get with Lenny and help him with the kids, etc.
The Board felt this could all be worked out with getting eveything taken
care of in the proper way and getting the helpers involved with taking
care of the kids if they get out of hand etc.
Chairman Don Tolley and Bill Moad would set up a meeting with the Jr.Board
in the next day or two and get this all taken care of.
Respectfully submitted
