Regular meeting. Council Chambers
July 18, 1977 - 12:00 Noon
Present: Members - Conger, Gerdes, Wallace, Gledhill, Bell
Ex officio - Bauman, Renk, Payne.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Conger. The minutes
of the June 20 meeting were read and approved. Motion by Alma Bell,
second by Gledhill. Passed.
Parks : Recreation. Val Wallace reported on the meeting she attended.
A bulletin board for the swimming pool was approved and
accepted.
Commendations : A motion by Rip Gledhill that a letter be sent to
the Council commending the new office building of the firm
of Gigray, Downen, Miller and Weston for effective building
design, attractive landscaping, provision of off street
parking, for utilization and preservation of old established
trees and for utilizing the energy conservation meaure of
planting grass next to the building. Seconded by Bob Gerdes.
Passed.
Chairman Conger asked the secretary to send a letter to Dorothy
Huckabee at the News Tribune for commendation of her article on
June 3rd concerning garbage complaints and ordinance and adding our
sppreciation of her interest.

Curtis Park: Chairman Conger reported she had turned in the in-
formation to Don Horan for the application for the federal
grant on Bureau of Outdoor Recreation.
Arboretum: Outline plans for Plan I and alternate Plan II were
discussed. Motion was made by Val Wallace and seconded by
Rip Gledhill to accept these outlines and form a steering
committee to study land availability. (outlines attached) .
A committee of Rick Youngblood, Alma Bell, and Conger will
have a more complete recommendation by the August meeting.
Commission By laws : A meeting was scheduled for next Monday to discuss
and study changes.
New Business : John Renk discussed the bill bug and weed problems
and will prepare an article for the paper. It was suggested
personal calls be made to some owners and establishments to
help control some of the unsightliness on their properties.
Mr. Gledhill offered to make some of these contacts .
Downtown Project: Bob Gerdes reported involved townspeople were
interested and cooperative in this project. Marilyn Bauman
expressed concern of an ordinance relating to itinerant
merchants because of the possibility of wheter it was broad
enough to include the street fairs we discussed for the future.
