HomeMy WebLinkAbout1977-08-23 Beautication 1 Caldwell Beautification Commission Reconvened meeting from August 15th August 23, 1977 Council Chambers City Hall Present: Members - Conger, Macy, Rankin, Bell, Wallace and Gledhill. Ex officio - Payne and Morse Chairman Conger recalled order of the reconvened meeting. Notation made that meeting of August 15th should read recessed rather than adj ourned. Tennis Courts - A motion was made to appoint a representative from the commission to meet with Mr. Horan, Vern Morse, Jess Payne, a representative from the recreation committee, a representative of the tennis club, and the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation in Boise to apply for funds for tennis courts for Caldwell. Motion by Gledhill. Seconded by Rankin. Motion passed. Chairman Conger appointed Val Wallace as our representative. Indian Creek - Bobby Rankin showed slides of San Antonios River recreation walks. Discussion was held on the reclassification on Indian Creek and Val Wallace distributed copies of the petition. ,rN Program Goals - The goals for the 1977-1978 program were introduced as follows : ' 1. Trees a Continue campaign on control of Dutch elm disease. b Actively support the establishment of a sidewalk repair L. I.D. for a selected section of town which would serve as a guideline and showplace for sidewalk and parking plantings in Caldwell. c ) Apply for Green City USA Recognition. 2. Bikeways a) Provide all support possible to the bicycle safety steering committee being formed by Paul Hale. b) Actively seek cooperation of School District on the project of widening to include sidewalks and bikeways to include Logan from 10th to 16th and the continuation of that bikeway across the back of Washington School grounds to Fillmore. 3. Arboretum a ) Form a committee and seek funding as stated in Phase I of Arboretum Plan. (Minutes July 18, 1977) 4. Railroad Park Project To continue active support of the project presupposing the cooperation of Union Pacific. 5. Commendation Program - Continue program as established. 6. City Property - Support city in continuing efforts to clean up city owned properties. 7. Quiet Parks - Complete the necessary procedures for the acceptance of the Neighborhood Quiet Park into the City Park System. ' 1 8. General - Consider and follow through on any other projects that fall within general guidelines as stated in the by-laws of this commission. Motion made for acceptance by Gledhill. Seconded by Rankin. Passed. Reappointments and New Nominations - Motion was made to recommend reappointment of Rankin and Wal'..ace whose terms expire. Prospective names were balloted to fill vacancies of Conger and Youngblood and those names will be contacted. Election of Officers - Nomination for chairman was unanimously cast for Bobby Rankin and for Gledhill for vice-chairman. Motion by Wallace. Seconded by Macy. Passed. Nomination for co-secretaries for Wallace and Bell. Motion by Macy. Seconded by Rankin. Passed.
