City Hall
Present: Members - Conger, Wallace, Rankin, Gledhill and Bell.
Ex Officio - Vern Morse, Bauman, Palrang.
Visitors - Roelofs and Horan.
Chairman Conger called the meeting to order. She presented
the two visitors.
The minutes of the August 15th and 23rd were read. Correction
on 23rd to read on Program Goals as approved instead of introduced.
Minutes approved. Correction under Tennis Courts heading should
read Parks and Recreation Commission instead of Recreation Committee.
Parks & Recreation - Dee Palrang reported Neal Goff resigned as
liaison from Parks and Recreation to the Commission and a new
liaison will be appointed. She was attending in his place.
Planning & Zoning. - The final hearing on the Planning and Zoning
Ordinance will 'be held Wednesday the 21st at 7:30 P.M. This
Commission will present a statement in support of the zoning
and our reasons for it.
Commendation Program - Conger reported on the Gigray building
for commendation. dew nominations were requested and Rankin
asked that we all try to view the home on West Linden of Wittts
for discussion in future.
Bikeways - Morse reported $45,000,000 will be in a bill intro-
duced to congress with 80% matching funds for use of bike paths.
A recommendation of a bikeway to be included on the L.I.D. for
Montana will be researched by Gledhill for possible statement
to the Council.
Curtis Park - Val and Gerdes met with Crookham and Pilcher.
Canyon County Historical will give their moral support on a
project to those who will progress with this idea. The Parks
and Recreation Commission will possibly be working on such a
project.
Tennis Courts - Morse discussed grants, their needs and clari-
fication of processes of applying. Heads of City departments
should probably be responsible for applications and this comm-
ission should feed imput of needs and requirements on any project
to the departments.
Arboretum - Nothing to report.

Railroad Park - Bauman had communicated with Union Pacific who
said the loading docks could be removed and the depot is being
repainted. A question was brought up if whether it would be ---
desirable to station a box car on the grounds and for what pur-
pcse? Discussion followed.
Safeway Plantings - Blue prints are in Salt Lake and work com-
pleted at the new site with pavings and so far no plantings .
Indian Creek -- A statement was read by Wallace at the hearing
and will be kept in the secretaryls book.
New Business - Wallace was asked to draft a note of appreciation
'to Chairman Conger for her efforts and work on this Commission.
