ORDINANCE NO. 3056
AN ORDINANCE ENACTED BY THE CALDWELL CITY COUNCIL CHANGING THE NAME
FOR A PORTION OF "WILDERNESS DRIVE" TO "ALLIANCE STREET"; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES, RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS AND PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT '
HEREWITH.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Caldwell, Canyon County, State
of Idaho:
Section 1: That pursuant to the authority set forth in Idaho Code § 50-318 and in the Caldwell City
Code at § 05-07-08(2), and upon the request of the Caldwell Mapping Department, that certain street
known as "Wilderness Drive" located in Delaware Park Subdivision No. 2 Unit No. 1 At The Colonies,
recorded in Canyon County, Idaho as Instrument No. 200603453 in Book 37 of Plats at Page 13 (not to be
confused with the street carrying the same name in Units 6-8 of Delaware Park Subdivision No. 1 At The
Colonies), shall be changed to"Alliance Street".
Section 2: There are no affected property owners as those adjacent to the above section of street
utilize Commonwealth Avenue for their address. Therefore, the effective date of this change shall be
immediate upon passage of this ordinance.
Section 3: This ordinance is hereby declared to be severable. If any portion of this ordinance is
declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction,the remaining provisions shall continue in full force
and effect and shall be read to carry out the purposes of the ordinance before the declaration of partial
invalidity.
Section 4: All ordinances, resolutions, orders and parts thereof in conflict herewith are repealed,
rescinded and annulled.
PASSED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CALDWELL, IDAHO, this 16th day of May,
2016.

To: Mayor Nancolas and Members of Council

RE: Change of Official Street Name from Wilderness Drive to Alliance Street
Date: May 11, 2016
Requested Action: Approve the attached resolution
The Mapping Department has determined that the portion of Wilderness Drive located in
Delaware Park Subdivision No. 2 Unit No. 1 At The Colonies needs to be changed. This section
is disconnected from sections carrying the same name in Units 6, 7, & 8 of Delaware Park
Subdivision No. 1 At The Colonies and the two streets will never physically connect.
Also, in Section 05-07-04(3) of the Caldwell City Code, a "DRIVE" is a street suffix designated
for a "street generally meandering in an east-west direction", while a "STREET" is defined as an
"east-west street generally running in a straight line". Since "WILDERNESS" is a straight line
east-west street in this phase and generally east-west in the adjacent phase currently being
constructed, the street suffix should be changed to the suffix of"STREET". The proposed new
street name is Alliance Street.
Section 05-07-08(2) of the Caldwell City Code indicates a written notice of at least 90 calendar
days in advance of the effective date of this change. However, the two lots adjacent to this
section of street are already addressed off of Commonwealth Avenue. Therefore, it is proposed
that the change become effective immediately.
Staff recommends approval of the attached ordinance.
