While it would appear to the unconcerned that the salvage operation is just a temporary clearinghouse for damaged vehicles, to the discerning eye this proposal is tantamount to a junkyard being established in an industrial park with a high risk of lowering property values of those who own property bordering on or near the proposed salvage yard. Additionally, we believe the storage of damaged (wrecked)vehicles on the proposed site would present an unacceptable environment for prospective new businesses in this industrial area. We certainly would not have chosen to establish our plant in this area had this proposed use preceded us in this area. We would certainly have second thoughts about expanding our business on our other parcels if this were to become a reality. The current location in Caldwell of this type facility presents an eyesore to the general public today. Why would anyone assume that this new location would be any different? When considering land use, much thought must be given to future use of the remaining available parcels in this industrial park. It is seriously doubtful that new business prospects would find a salvage yard an inspiring environment in which to build or locate. As the owner of five parcels of land in the immediate area, Perdue Woodworks, Inc. urges the Planning and Zoning Commission to deny the development of the proposed salvage yard in this industrial area. This proposal would be better served in an isolated area where other homes or businesses have not yet been established. I am the General Manager of KIT Homes Division located at 1124 Garber Street. Our manufacturing facility is directly across the street from the proposed Idaho Salvage Pool facility. I will be out of town on the date of the hearing and I wish to go on record as being opposed the this facility. I am concerned that this type of business will be an eyesore to the area, will be very noisy and will add to the already heavy traffic count on Garber Street. I feel that this location is better suited to light manufacturing such as KIT Homes or Perdue Manufacturing. I feel there are other sites that would be more appropriate to this type of business. I would encourage you to not allow this business to locate at this site. Thank you for your consideration.
