Dear Linda,
Thank you for your letter regarding the awning at 214 S. 7th Street. Per our telephone conversation I am
writing this letter to explain what has transpired since the November meeting with the City Council. The
awning cover has been removed on a day that the weather was not bad. Since the removal, several times
we had people scheduled to come,to look at the awning to see what choices we had with the awning but
the weather did not cooperate,in as much as they would have to be on a ladder etc. We have reschedule
to have another person to come and check out the awning since the weather has change. The church
leadership will determine what will be the most cost effective in regards to the awning. We will make a
decision in two weeks and proceed with the plans.
The City Council also required a lighting plan for the parking lot. In the alley by the front door of the
building is a city street light. There is a lighting pole in the middle of the parking lot with two high out
put lights. One of the lights was burned out which we have replaced. We will continue to maintain the
parking lot lights. The parking lot is well illuminated.

Special Use Permit
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen:
This letter is in regard to our application for a special use permit. The name of our
church is Treasure Valley Christian Center, Inc, doing business as Oasis Worship Center. We have
been having church services in the Caldwell area for over sixteen years. We would now like to change
our location and conduct our services in the building located on 214 South 7th Street, which was
formerly Model Market, Taylor Music and Jack's Sporting Goods.
We believe granting us a special use permit will benefit the public immensely and have
a positive influence on the downtown Caldwell area, including all the surrounding businesses. We
would be moving into a building which is presently vacant and has not been well maintained. We
would remodel and maintain the building and parking lot so they would like nice once again and be
well kept. We believe having a church in that area would greatly enhance the area for value and
worth. We would bring more traffic to the downtown area which would also bring benefits to the
surrounding businesses. We would not be in competition with any of the merchants due to the fact
that we are a church. The people in the community will have another choice for a place of worship
in the downtown area.
We believe having a church in this location of our city would not have any detrimental
affect on anyone or any business, and we would not adversely affect the public interest in any way.
In conclusion, we believe that we will have a positive affect on the community and
bring a heightened awareness to the people of Caldwell. Thank you for granting us a special use
permit.
