SUBJECT: Comments for Caldwell Planning& Zoning Commission
February 23,2001 meeting
The Caldwell Fire Department (CFD) offers the following comments regarding these cases to come
before the Caldwell Planning&Zoning Commission meeting for February 23, 2001:
f---
Case No. SUP-114-00 Heritage House(Assisted Living Facility)
Location: 2310 Rice Avenue
Applicant: Sharon Patterson
The Applicant is seeking to increase their bed capacity to nine (9). This increase, based on my
interpretation of Idaho Code statutes 67-6530 through 67-6532, would legally change this facility
from a "single-family residential/ congregate residence" classification
R-
3) into a"nursing home for ambulatory patients"classification ([u Occupancy Group R-
(UBCOccup ancy GrGroup oup 1-2).
Records indicate that this facility has an approved automatic residential fire sprinkler system (NFPA
13D) that provides the required fire extinguishing system protection for the new occupancy group
classification. The only other requirement obvious at this time, if not already installed, would be an
approved manual and automatic fire alarm system. CFD approval of this request would be
conditional upon a full fire inspection of the premises.
