HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-23-2014 EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLANCITY OF CALDWELL EMPLOYEE BENEFIT PLAN ApPR TRUS'T'EE MEETING HELD ON APRIL 23, 2014 The meeting was called to order at 2:10 p.m. Those in attendance: Monica Jones, EIJay Waite, Mary -Kaye Stewart, Councilman Hopper, and Lois from Mercer DISCUSSION ITEM(S): • As of March 31, 2014, trial balance and bank balance was $1,194,075 and a surplus of $397,323. Financial reports were reconciled and balanced. • The Health Plan Experience report that Mercer prepared for YTD as of March 31, 2014 was reviewed. Mercer reported an 87.6% loss ratio for the health plan and a 71.4% loss ratio for the dental plan. • EIJay clarified those miscellaneous costs that should come out of Fund 84. • There was discussion about benefit plan designs for the 2014 - 2015 fiscal budget. Ideas presented: continue to promote wellness and manage health, consider different contribution tiers for healthy lifestyle participants and nonparticipants, review associated costs to the plan for tobacco users, review the contribution rates, review costs of insuring spouses that have declined coverage through their employers, and consider implementing over a two year period a surcharge for spouses covered on the City's plan. MOVED by EIJay, SECONDED by Hopper to adjourn at 2:56 p.m. A planning meeting is scheduled for June 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. and the next meeting quarterly meeting is scheduled for July 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Those voting yes: Unanimous.
