Present. Liz Godina, Angie Point, Ron Bonneau, Donna Shines, Josh Williamson, Scott
Herdegen, Ken Wien, Joyce Davis, Kathleen Schatz, Anita Wilson, Debbie Geyer
Meeting called to order 10:08 a.m.
Past Minutes: Motion /Donna Shines Segond/ Joyce Davis to approve minutes of 02/25/2014
as presented.
Youth Forurn- September 12, 2014
• Theme: Will go with the same theme, Bystander Effect.
• Location: Ron Bonneau provided Debbie with a confirmation letter of reserved locations
for event.
• Attendees: 25 students from VHS and alternative, 25 from CHS and alternative, possibly
5 students from CGSSA, 10 college members and 10 YMP committee members. Total of
75
• Scott Herdegen provided Debbie with a list of attendees from VHS.
• Angie Point from City Hall will be dedicating her time Youth Forum. She will be assisting
with registration and formal invitations. Hard copies will also be sent out for parent
reminders.
• Debbie proposed to handout the registration packets at the College rather than on the
busses.
o Last year, registration packets included moxie Java cards. Debbie to check with
local businesses for "freebies" that we can include in the registration packet.
• Josh Williamson advised the "Y" will provide some day passes.
• Scott (VHS) and Kathleen (CHS) will put resources together for students to
include in packet.
• Donna Shines will provide names of employees from the Department of Labor
that may able to help with planning process of next year's career fair. Dept. of
Labor has lots of resources available that will benefit participants.
• Transportation: Julie Yamamoto and Anita Wilson to follow up with transportation
departments.
• Media: Debbie Geyer will follow up with Idaho Press Tribune for media coverage.
• General Session: Ron Bonneau will be the point of contact.
• General Set -Up: Anita Wilson may possibly have a stage that can be used for speaker.
• Lunch Arrangements: Budget for approximately $8.00 a person
o Lunch Activity with Students: Joyce to bring or email suggestions for student
participation.
• Team Building Exercise: Sub - committee (Nancy Shelstad, Josh Williamson, Kathleen
Schatz and Scott Herdegen) to plan an interactive activity for students.
• Video Session: Ron Bonneau to explore video options. (approx 20 minute)
• Breakout Groups: Julie Yamamoto and Anita Wilson to head up group discussion.
(approx 40 minutes)
• Fundraising Efforts: Ken Wien, Debbie Geyer and Angie Point will be working together
for fundraising options. Will look into civic groups.
• T- shirts: no updates to report, CHS and VHS students to come up with some
graphic /logo ideas.
• Event Survey: Donna Shines will put some ideas together for student surveys.
• Closing Ceremony: sticky notes on big posters to process participants' thoughts of the
event.
Career Fair - April 16, 2014
• Anita Wilson provided a revised college and career day schedule.
• No updates from VHS, scheduling will depend on transportation.
Other Business
Debbie Geyer shared Youth Master Plan accomplishments of goals and initiatives. (handouts
provided with details)
New Business
Bank On Discussion: A presentation by Bank On will be presented at next month's meeting.
Debbie Geyer shared posters and brochures with committee. Presentation by Mayor Nancolas.
Consider Goals for Health and Wellness promise. Share ideas of programs that are available
throughout the area. This goal may be discussed during the May meeting.
Meeting adjourned 11:20 a.m.
Next Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th at 10 :00 a.m., Caldwell Police Department
Community Room.
