Minutes
February 7, 2013
Attendance: Joan Pemble, Chair, Melissa Stringfield, Larry Blackburn, Bonny Smith, Elaine
Leppert, Library Director, Shannon Ozuna, City Council, Monica Jones, City Human Resource
Director, Kimbre Chapman, Children's Librarian, and Shandee Tachick, Mayors Youth
Committee.
Called to Order: 7:00 P.M.
Pead Endowment meeting was called in which Blackburn moved to put $100 into the staff fund.
It was seconded (Smith) and approved. Chapman presented information about the library's
Summer Reading Program: its growing numbers of participants and the financial challenges of
maintaining incentive prizes (2 free books per participant) with the current funding. Stringfield
moved to postpone a decision on additional funding for the Summer Reading Program for a
month, Smith seconded and the motion passed. Tachick volunteered to coordinate a high
school drive to donate "gently used" children's books to the library for the Summer Reading
Program. Jones volunteered to promote a similar request through the Caldwell City Employee
Newsletter. Chapman excused herself from the remainder of the meeting. The Pead
Endowment meeting was closed at 7:45 P.M.
Executive session was called at 7:45 P.M. to discuss personnel matters and closed at 9:00 P.M.
Executive session ended and the Board returned to regular session at 9 :03 P.M. Jones provided
the Board with a prepared job description for the previously proposed position for an assistant
to Leppert. The job description will be reviewed by Board members and Leppert. It will be
revisited and a final draft attempted at the next meeting.
Next meeting to be a special meeting on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 5:00 P.M.
