Mayor's Youth dvisory Council- Wednesday November 5th, 2003

With an approval of the agenda by Stacey and a second motion by Sara we started our
first meeting in November.
Firstly Stacey talked about a fundraiser that we would be able to participate in, We will
be wrapping presents at D&B supply the weekend after Thanksgiving and then come
back December 13th and work our way up to Christmas. The money we make will go
• toward the YMCA. 1t is asked of each of us to contribute 1 roll of wrapping paper and
one roll of tape. Not a lot of people have signed up so if you are ever free on those days
please let Stacey or Christy know. It is a good fundraiser if we have people there to
wrap gifts!
There is now going to be a new way of keeping attendance for the meetings. Each meeting
there will be a sign in sheet. If you don't sign in you want be counted. DON'T FORGET!
Awnalee updated us on the costume decorating, hardly anyone showed up but they got a few
costumes created. We set new dates to comptete them. On MONDAY and TUES�AY the l Otn
and 11 � we will meet at City Hall at 6:00 to finish our costumes. There was a motion to
approve the meeting dates by Catalina and Amanda seconded that motion.
Alicia talked to her student council about helping with a fundraiser for the YMCA. They
agreed but wont start until sometime in March. Christy added that Vallivue's student council
will also hold a fundraiser, they will be doing a penny drive ta earn the money and it will be
split between the YMCA and the Hope House.
The mayor wants all those going to Nashvilte to have a meeting with Debbie. The meeting
has been set to Thursday the 13th of November at 4:�0. Sara, Christy, Danielle, and Mollie
� are those that shoutd attend this meeting.

The mayor aiso had information about a youth forum. He met with Mandy Degastro and they
are in hopes of having a youth forum take place in June. It will most likely be combined with
AIC conference.
• Sara updates us with Americas promise. Our application has been completed and sent. We
are now just waiting for a promise. Debbie filled out the 40 page application-thanks go out
to her for the hard work.
Christy updated us with the DARE decorating. It went well and MYAC made the front page of
the newspaper the next day, thanks to Tristan's good decorating skills.
Alicia and Sara have an idea to start a"profile" book for the group (see attached and
complete) The book will consist of information from each of the members.
Good news about "pipe dream Park" comes from the Mayor. Urban Renewal norar owns the 65
acres of land. We will be able to help design this park. More information on Pipe Dream
Park will come at a later date. We wil) also need someone to attend the YMCA steering
committee; date is TBA at our next meeting. Another update from the Mayor that an January
13� the State of City Address will take place at ACI at 1 1:30, we are invited.
Motion to adjourn the meeting came from Awnalee and Chris added the second motion.
