HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-19-2003 MAYOR'S YOUTH MINUTES _ � � w � � Mayor's Youth Advisory Council—Wednesday, November 19, 2003 6:00 Attendance: Christy Marroquin, Michelle Elizondo, Sibylle Gorla, Alex Blinov, Marina Yemelyanova, Daniel Medina, Amanda McEldowney, Xanthy Howard, Megan Wagner, Sara Gilmore, Scott Hutton, Mollie Baxter, Zach Marmon, Abbie Brooks, Chris Search, Mayor, Garret Nancolas Items of Business • Fundraiser/sign-ups � Profiles • Costumes • Nashville • Pamphlet • Final adoption of Bylaw amendments • Christmas Parade • Steering Committee/time, date, place • Card for Debbie • Service Clubs • Upcoming year involvement • Due to the lack of attendance, the council did not have a quorum and was not able to vote or take action on any items of business. The meeting merely served purpose to address upcoming events and discussion time. Firstly Christy spoke once again about the D&B Fundraiser to remind those who signed-up of their commitment. It was suggested by Christy that each volunteer bring a least one roll of wrapping paper and scissors and tape if possible, Sara then reminded the group of the profiles that the council has been asked to submit in order to create a profile book for the Nashville conference. All members in attendance submitted a profile before the meeting ended. If you were not able to attend the meeting please fill out the profile that was send out with the November 5th minutes. Also we would like to include a picture with the profile so please send a picture with your profile to Sara at: Sara Gilmore 415 Cottonwood Caldwell, ID 83605 Christy briefly spoke about the great turnout to make costumes for the Christmas � parade. If you were unable to come to decorate a costume and would like to � � � � . -�' ! participate in the Christmas parade, please contact Christy and she wiil get you the needed materials. The pamphlet that was created for the Nashville conference and the council wili be presented at the next meeting on the 3� of December. The final adoption of the bylaws was to take place at this meeting, yet due to an incomplete quorum; the adoption of the bylaws was postponed for the December 3 rd meeting. For those member who received copies of the bylaws, please review and familiarize yourself with them, for the bylaws are an important document of the council. If there are any grammaticai errors or other mistakes please bring them to the councils attention. Christy reminded the council about the date and time of the Christmas parade. Ali participants need to meet at the 0'Connor Fieltl House at 4:30 p.m. near the Santa sleigh and diesei trucks. And remember to look festive and very decorated. There was a reminder to the council to attend the Steering Committee meeting for the YMCA scheduled, Thursday, November 22`�. • A thank-you card was past around to be signed for Debbie Geyer. The card is to thank her for all her hard work and her dedication to the council. Thank you Debbie! The mayor spoke about the upcoming Service Clubs that the council will have an opportunity to attend. The Service Club dates will begin at the beginning of the January. A sign up sheet was past around and signed if one was interested in speaking at an engagement. If interest there will be another chance to sign up at the next meeting. The final item of discussion was time for the council to brainstorm. Christy asked the counal what types of activities and volunteer opportunities they were interested in. Sara commented that she would like to see the council involve the student bodies of both schools in our projects. Daniel would like to see the council take more action and promote the group to the community. Sibylle added that local dances for youth would be a good chance to promote us and give the youth something to do. In the final minutes, Chris and Zach arrived to the meeting and completed the quorum. Given that, there was a motion by Amanda to adjourned the meeting and Daniel seconded the motion. �
