• d. Depot fnterpretive Center: The next meeting will be held Nov. 2 nd
and the topic will be the Fundraiser for the fountain.
e. Finance Committee: Did not meet
After each committee report the Vallivue vs. Caldwell Fundraiser was discussed.
Mollie took the honors of telling the council that we made $750 and this donation
will be matched by a family in Caldwell who will remain anonymous. A special
thanks goes out to all the people that contributed and to the very caring family
who will match our donation.
Member Reports were next on the agenda. Do to Bailey's absence, she was not
able to tell us about the Chamber of Commerce Meeting, but the Mayor was sure
she was not able to attend.
The Western Canyon Youth and Family Coalition met and spoke mainly of the
same topics from the last meeting. They spoke about the GRASP Program, and
the possibility of a Peace Walk due to the recent increase in violence. The idea to
attend this walk was accepted by the council. A motion was made by Brad and a
second was made by Amanda McEldowney.
A member of the By-Laws Committee showed up and we spoke briefly about
their issues which will be moved formally to the next meeting. Rand spoke about
the possibility of having 5 alternates from each school instead of 3. He then
spoke about possibly changing the amount of years served on the council before
you can run for the executive committee.
Due to Mattie's absence the Scrap book and Survey will be moved to the next
meeting.
The next item on the agenda was the Hope's aoor Training. Due to the
overwhelming 13 volunteers from the council, the Hope's Door Training Program
decided to give us as a council one training session to ourselves. A training
session will be 3 hours each and there will be 7 meeting dates. Brenda was our
guest and spoke briefly about these topics and will stay in touch with the council.
The training sessions will look mainly at the questions "how can we and what can
we do to reduce violence in our community?"
Following our discussion on the Hope's Door Training we shifted our attention to
the training of a new council in Kuna. Due to Tom's absence we will discuss this
item November 3ra
Our next discussion was a presentation on a few of our guests. We had 3
Caldwell attendees that were thoroughly interested in getting the council involved
in making a Frisbee Golf Course somewhere in the Caldwell area. Catalina
brought to mind the possibility about adding this to the Pipe Dream Park. The
council agreed and this idea was accepted. A Thank you goes out to our guests
• and we look forward ta working with you in the future. A motion to adopt this idea
r
. was made by Rand and a second was made by Brad.
The Mayor addressed the councii with the next idea for the council. A past
member from Ukraine, Marina, has started a MYAC in her community. They are
having great success and would like to become Pen Pals with our council. We
will speak about this more next week.
Our final discussion was to the San Jose members. Tickets have been
purchased and the Mayor discussed the itinerary. Members will report back to
the City Council and give a brif presentation of there time in San Jose. A
congratulation goes out to Mollie Baxter for being chosen to join the
Leadership Academy.
The meeting came to a close at 7:03 with a motion by Xanthy and a second by
Brad.
