Meeting Minutes (10/23/2012)
Members Present: Liz Godina, Debbie Geyer, Shannon Ozuna, Andy Cater, Donna Shines, Anita Wilson
Meeting called to order 10:10 a.m.
YMP meeting calendar for 2012 & 2013, copies given to committee members.
Media report: Web page is up and running with numerous links.
Promise #2 Safety - increase awareness of PAL and other police sponsored activities.
PAL (Police Athletic League) started under former Chief Bob Sobba.
Police officers interacting with youth activities include:
• Football League —School Resource Officer Ibarra and Chief Allgood coach the PAL team. Football
club runs under the Caldwell Exchange Club and includes elementary age participants.
• Girls Softball League- partial sponsor, coached by Captain Wyant
• Halloween Night- yearly, numerous CPD employees involved in planning and coordinating event.
• Boys and Girls Nigh Out- numerous CPD employees involved in planning and coordinating event.
• Boxing league -the boxing club is in dire need of practice location. Current practice location is at
JB's roofing. John Bullis is retiring soon and practice location may go as well. Finances are the big
issue in securing a location for the boxing club.
Neighborhood watch committees discussed.
TRIAD is volunteering at the Winter Wonderland lost and found booth.
Chief Allgood also offered gang education and training to Caldwell School District. Education /training
through PSN grant. (Project Safe Neighborhood)
Invite Sgt Chris Finley to next meeting for a short gang and drugs presentation to committee.
Anita Wilson, advised the bus transportation does not keep track of registered sex offenders at bus
stops, too many changes and very frequent.
Anita to update on Automatic Dialers at Caldwell School District, mass emails and working on text
messaging.
Treasure Valley youth forum with community partners. City of Caldwell, City of Nampa first meeting
November 6, 2012 at Meridian City Hall.
Bike and Pathway event May 1, 2013.
Meeting adjourned 11:15 a.m.
Next Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, November 27 ` h at 10:00 a.m., City Hall.
