HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-24-2012 SENIOR MINUTESY Senior Center Board Meeting on September 24, 2012 Donna C called the meeting to order at 1:00pm with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. In Attendance: Gene Schaecher, Forrest Smotherman, Judie Smith, Sharon Kolins, Billie Copeland, Donna Crockett, Mary Twitchell, Michelle Gamble, Jeri Rhodes Absent: Russ Weihe Visitor: Rich Scherer Coordinator's Report: See attached report from Judie. Discussed CPR classes and they are $45 at TVCC and we would have to have 10 people signed up in order for them to come to the center. Judie will call Red Cross for information. WICAP here October 11 and 18 from 9am -3pm. City repaired automatic door opener and replaced lights that were out. Still have to fix crack in front of building and kitchen ceiling tiles. First Aid kits will be bought at Walmart at $9.99. Food bank rejected our request for a grant. Judie asking if ad in Idaho Senior Newspaper regarding renting out dining room would be okay. Active life expo 2012 Nampa center and Caldwell will have a booth. It is October 25 CCOA wants us to provide formal emergency plan. Judie working with CCOA to establish. Gayla and Judie checking on Farmers Brothers Coffee to see if can save money our coffee supplies. Gene made motion to approve and Billie 2 ° . Motion approved. Bingo Concession Report Nothing to report at this time Rich Scherer wanted to now how the board wanted to proceed with the waxing of the floors at the center. He feels 4 coats of wax is the proper way to do the flooring. Was discussed among the board and decided two coats is the way we want it done, but also we want it buffed 1 -2 times a month. No Bingo reports No bills to report CCOA/EOA -NO REPORT OLD BUSINESS Bingo split will be done. $4000 into board account and $4000 in nutrition. Motion made: Jeri Rhodes Motion seconded: Forrest Smotherman - Motion passed r a ' PO # are being used on everything John's wife, Debbie, can help with quick book training for $35 /hour. Willing to come in 2 hours a day or we could hire her to do it. 1 -3pm would work best for Judie. Jeri made a motion to hire Debbie to train the coordinator for at least the 1" two hours. Motion made: Jeri Rhodes Motion seconded: Sharon Kolins Motion passed Donna spoke about the hall being rented. Donna had to move tables and clean some of the floor after one of the functions. Need to put in the rental agreement upfront what is expected when renting out the hall. Forrest made the motion to put this in the rental agreement. Motion made: Forrest Smotherman Motion seconded: Billie Copeland Motion passed Discussed tape recorder for the secretary or software for laptop. Will make meeting minutes more clear when typing up. Gene will check on the software. Milk machine broke down. The repair man will come by tomorrow to look at. Reminded Judie to get a bid prior to fixing it. If it is less then $150 then she can make the decision to have it fixed. If over $150 it needs to be presented to the board for approval. Gene talked about meal donations for July and August and they are down. Something seems to be wrong with the daily reporting. Judie will make sure that everyone is doing it correctly and the same. Sharon suggested to change the dally sheet to condense. Discussed the music and noise level. May ask members how they feel. CCOA board meeting is Sept 27 at the SW Health District. 1 -3pm. August meal costs $6.75. Discussed getting better pricing. Need to order correctly and can't do at spur of the moment. Gene gave Judie food scale to help give idea of portions. Nampa will pay the $40.00 for the booth rental and Caldwell will supply healthy treats and door prize. I called the Fire Dept. to find out if our building has all required safety equipment and have the Fire Marshal come o � �t rough everything we need to comply with the law.
