HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-26-2012 YMPC MinutesYouth Master Plan Committee Meeting Minutes (06/26/12) Members Present: Liz Godina, Andy Cater, Donna Shines, Kent Noethe, Shannon Dzuna, Brittanie Campos, Debbie Geyer Guest Present: Kelli Fairless Meeting called to order 10:05 a.m. Guest Kelly Fairless, Valley Regional Transit, Executive Director was present at meeting. She gave an oversight of Valley Regional Transit and a brief schedule. • Public transportation is available in Ada and Canyon County. • Volunteer driver program available at 345 RIDE (7433) • Perhaps the Family YMCA has volunteers interested in driving? • Constantly looking at other human services for interested volunteer drivers. • Volunteers who use their own vehicles are reimbursed for mileage. • 2hours of internet based training, drug test, background check, vehicle inspections • Vans available with wheelchair access • Bus services operate under the name Valley Ride which has fixed routes such as: • Connects Caldwell to Nampa and are available 6am and returns 6:30pm • One day a week for Caldwell and Nampa, Tuesday — Friday o Parma 7arn to 3pm Suggestions from Kell! were as follows: Identify projects we canon together, working with local school districts perhaps through the dialer ride program, work with the Y on summer transportation project. Kent Noethe mentioned that during school, transportation is available from Caldwell and Vallivue schools to the Y. Unfortunately during the summer or weekends there is no transportation is available. He will follow up with Y Staff to contact Kell! Fairless Debbie Geyer to follow up with CHS and VHS Superintendents to meet with Kelli Fairless. Brittanie Campos discussed website options for YMPC. Debbie Geyer had an update from Brian Blllinglsey; city wide bike ride in September. Bill would like schools to help get the word out to students; will follow up with date. Action Items: 4 th of July volunteers are as follows: Brittanie noon to 2pm, Shannon 2pm -4pm. Canyon county fair volunteers, Debbie 11am -fpm, Kent fpm -3pm, Brittanie 3pm -6pm Debbie Geyer brought up the Nampa PAL training facility located inside the Karcher Mall. It was decided to discuss Caldwell PAL at next meeting. Liz Godina to follow up with Chief or PAL organizer and invite to next meeting to discuss the program /facility options /future plans. Meeting adjourned 11:15 a.m. Next Meeting scheduled for July 24 at 10:00 a.m., City Hall.
