HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-14-1997 SENIOR MINUTES (2) Caldwell Senior Citizens Center Commission Regular Meeting November 14, 1997 The meeting was called to order at 9:05 am. Members present were Vada Givens, Lauren Stevens, Beryl Kingsbury, Gwen Barney, Doris Ellis, Harvey Simmons, Virginia Figueredo, Ray Keck, Leo Perez, Dottie Blessing The minutes to the last meetings were read. In the regular meeting in October the minutes were amended as follows: the addition of the word coordinator to the paragraph stating "Discussion of bonus to cook (and Coordinator)was discussed". The minutes were accepted as ammended. Treasurer's report was read and approved as read. Coordinator's report: Pool, $75, Pinochle $40, Good Sam's $50, Nutrition$375. Bills: Crystal Janitorial $34. Witco (Plaque)$17.57, Higer Plumbing $171.61, Stamps for Entertainment Committee $32, E.O.A.$306.80 Volunteer Dinner, $300.Bery1 Kingsbury made a motion to pay the bills. Second by Ray Keck. Motion Carried. Old Business: The temporary cook's helper is not working out. She will be released. Motion was made by Ray Keck that we hire Kim Ball as cook's helper if Vonnie agrees. Second by Beryl Kingsbury. Motion passed. It was noted that Dr. Shanohan would be able to borrow tableservice for his Thanksgiving dinner but not to borrow our steam table. After a brief discussion of our involvement with the Chamber of Commerce, we decided not to get involved. Leo Perez made a motion that we do not join C of C again. second by Beryl Kingsbury. Was not voted on at this time. Gwen Barney moved that we table the decision of joining C of C. Second by Ray Keck. Motion passed. Concerning the bonus for cook and coordinator. Ray Keck made a motion that the $100.0 not be given but to give a standard bonus which is equal to one week's salary to each employee. Second by Doris Ellis. No vote taken on this. Leo Perez amended the above motion to say that the board should go to the City Attorney before we vote .Gwen Barney seconded.Motion passed. Ray Keck opposed the motion to amend. A donation of $500 was handed to the board which is to be used strictly for shutters on the kitchen windows. Nominating Committee's Report: Nominees are Howard Smith, Rick and Vada Givens. Dottie Blessing asked for $300 for the Volunteer's Dinner to be done on December 22. Ray Keck made a motion that the money be given to Dot. Second by Beryl Kingsbury. Motion carried. Virginia Figueredo asked Lauren Stevens to appoint a committee to go together to the City Attorney over the bonus matter. He appointed Doris Ellis, Virginia Figueredo to go with him. Leo Perez made a motion that the meeting adjourn. Second by
