REPORT FROM KEN WHEELER Ken reported that weed control is completed at both courses. Fertilization has been done at Fairview and wiil soon be done at Sage. The cart path project on one wiIl be completed this week and is looking very good The shop was hit by lightning and the irrigation cornputer was ruined. The weather station was spared in this strike due to the surge , t protection system. We have purchased a new contract on this for 5 years at a cost of 12,900.00 dollars. This program covers all service and 24-hour support and if this occurs again we would not incur this cost for next 5 years. The dead spots we are seeing in the rough are strictly weeds and wi11 be over-seeded once the timing is conect. This is not an irrigation problem. They are spraying for fungus due to all the rain we have received. The greens have not been mowed very tight as they are still battling the moss. Once this is under control they will be able speed the greens up some. Ken states they wili be pushing the course and will be trying some new watering metho►ds to establish a deeper healthier root system. The boazd was very complimentary in how things were being run and the condition of the course. REPORT FROM JOHN WAT N SO April numbers are down $9800.00 for the month compared to 2004 and $9385.00 for the year to date figures. Weather has been the bulk of the problem with a coupte of rain out weekends really effecting revenue. Season pass sales are off 2.9%, Cart storage off 1.7% and green fees down 4.7%. John stressed the importance of us making the right decisions on the future of the land across the street and how it relates to being able to retain our I current staff and make needed improvements on the golf course. He had spoken to Sam Ho kins a local realtor and he seemed to think the o could be worth m excess of P Pr PenY $25,000.00 dollars per acre. Many ideas were dzscussed including selling a sma11 portion of the land and keeping the bulk for either a firture 9 holes or to later sell to fund a new urse. P t sta ed i w , co a t t as hard to put an exact price on the land due to the many conditions, which est currentiy in the county. He stated Middlcton might extend the irrigation to the freeway, which wouid have a very positive effect on the value of the Iand. John stated he would like to see Ken be able make decisions on what chemicals will be best for the course and not on what chemicals we can afford. John had several refund requests. The boazd advised both John and Lenny that they are authorized to handle refunds within the rules of the refund policy and would only need board approval on something requested outside that policy. John and Lenny wiii handle these from now on and will keep appropriate documentation for accounting purposes. REPORT FROM LENNY STROUP Lenny reported that revenues were down for April $1000.00 dollars from last year. 'The years to date figures are similar to Sage in that we aze down approximately $9340.00 year to date. Lenny reports the Fairview is in the finest shape it has been since he has been here. John is doing a wonderful job on the course and an excellent job in keeping Lenny apprised of schedules. What we really need now is some good weather. Lenny stated that the phone issues are better but still not completely fixed. John Watson stated that they are still , , having a few issues with their phones but overall they are working ok. Both Pros agree the buik of our revenue losses are due to weather issues. Lenny has stated he would like same pricing flexibility on poor weather days and late aftemoons. The board agreed we would be happy to entertain any promotions, which might increase overall revenues. Our rain check policy was discussed and John has been giving 18 hole rain checks if they have conpleted less than 9 holes and has been refunding the difference between the 18- hole rate and the 9-hoIe rate if they have completed more than 9. QLD BUSINESS A request for additional refund outside the refund policy was requested by the Navratil family. The board was unanimous in up holding current refund policy. They will be allowed the 75% refund. EI Jay brought in the current financial figures. We have revenues of $435,000. and expenses of $401,000. Based on this we will have to rely on green fees to carry us the balance of the year. El Jay has assured us we will be able to work through ttie un foreseen expenses. We will likely have 100,000 dollars we can free up from the sprinkler system deposit and we may be able to save appronately $20,000.00 by issuing new bonds at a lower ra.te. The city has been working with the irrigation district and is in the process of developing a study to determine what kind of revenues we could obtain by selling part of the property located near the Willis and EI Paso intersection. Engineering is curtently putting togethez a map of the area. El ray stated that one-acre lots in this area are selling for over forty thousand dollats each. Pat asked who made the decision to have this study done. E13ay stated that the boazd has been discussing this issue for several months and that the eity is just obtaining information for us to be able to make a decision on what route to take with the property. The Golf Board has been assured that nothing will be done before coming to us and tha.t all the profits from any sales wili stay with and be put into improvemerrts at the two courses. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business and the meeting was adjoumed
