SAFETY CO1�II�IITTEE
MEETING
June 29, 1994
Present: Curt Doty, Dave Marston, Christina Lumbreras, Mark
Wendelsdorf, Elroy Huff, Charlie Chadwick, Robert Lerma, and Sue
Brown.
Absent: John Schreiner, Linda Heib, Ed Christopher, Alan Laird,
Terry Martin and Dave Garcia.
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall in the
Conference Room by Chairperson Elroy Huff. Elroy introduced a
guest speaker, Rick Wells. Rick gave a brief presentation on
hazardous material, what it is and how to determine disposal of it.
There was discussion regarding the hazardous waste that the City
has and what we do with it.
There was discussion regarding the purchase of HAZ MAT stations in
every department. Sue reported that next year's budget includes
funds to purchase these stations and have binders containing all
MSDS sheets for employees to refer to.
There was also discussion that each department needs to have a
meeting and discuss the materials that they use and what the
standard medical procedures are if an accident occurs involving
that chemical. Also the storage and disposal of each chemical.
There was brief discussion regarding the industrial accidents that
have occurred since the last meeting. None of the accidents that
were reported needed further investigation. Sue reported that she
has not received the quarterly report to show which cases are still
pending and which ones are closed. She will report that to the
committee when the report .is received.
With no further discussion the meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
