Ms. Stacey agreed to contact Ms. Herda and attempt to discover her reasons for not pernutting the Commission to submit her home at 1223 Cleveland for nomination to the Historic Register. She added that while it is not a requirement that a homeowner agrees to go through the process, it was not felt to be a community-supported method and Tom Ensley confirmed this. There was some discussion regarding the Knight home at 1304 Cleveland but it was agreed to approach Mrs. Herda first. Staff will send a list of the properties for the survey to Ms. Stacey. There was general discussion about producing a pamphlet for the public on how a citizen might proceed in assessing and preparing their home for nomination to the National Register. Susan Stacey commented that slides were taken of homes in 1991 which could be a tool to assist people in evaluating their homes. Tom Ensley brought up the question of direction and promotional signage for the Oregon Trail and was advised that the State Historic Preservation Office has details on obtaining these and an organization such as the Humanities Council might fund such a brochure. Commission felt that Canyon County should be contacted regarding the Oregon Trail celebrations.
