The minutes from the previous committee meeting on the 13 of December 1999 were approved with one correction to names. Moved, Seconded, Approved. (M/S/A) COMMITTEE REPORTS Mayor's Report Mayor Nancolas was not available to attend Police Dep� Bond ActivitiesChief Sobba reports large percentage of department is at work on some aspect of getting word out to the public. Identifying the yes votes to be contacted by the telephone committee will be a large part of their concentration. Task Review Dr. Bauscher reminded each committee head to continue with strong Sub-Committee meetings, that their work and content is crucial to making this a positive outcome at the polls. Public informational meetings have been scheduled at the Caldwell High School on January 24' and 25�' at 7:00 p.m. The meetings should last one and one-half hour. Treasurer's Reqort Dale Peterson reports a balance in the Farmers and Merchants State Bank of $124.50. This is the remaining balance from the last Police Station Bond Election effort. There have been promised donations of $250.00 from the Downtown Caldwell Association and the Caldwell Chamber of Commerce and a donation of $200 from Farm Credit Services. The approximate overview of possible expenses runs in the neighborhood of $2,500 and will be supported with public and private donations. Anyone interested in making such donations may contact Dale Peterson for further information. Discussion was held regarding names of businesses who donated to the Police Station Bond issue in the past and the following names were suggested for recontact or preliminary contact for this bond; J8�J Tire, Idaho Power, Caxton Printers, Tom Edmark, Caldwell Unlimited, Margaret Langan, local bankers and businesses in the surrounding areas. Expenses for the printing of 30,000 flyers was suggested as excessive and reduction of numbers to the 20,000 range were more agreeable with the committee. Voter Reaist. Rod Endow explained the 8 sets of lists that had been passed out at the meeting on the 13 of December and looking through each precinct for names of people you know were very readable and easy to understand. Each committee member needs to go thru a packet to identify yes voters names and retum the packet to Rod Endow or Allan Laird. Dr. Basey gave his set to Dale Peterson. All lists need to be in their hands (Rod,Allan) by the 21 of January so that stickers with those identified names can be printed and pasted on Reminder Cards on the 26�' of January. Reminder cards will be mailed on the 28 day of January. Police Station Bond Steering Committee Meeting Minutes 12-20-99 Page 2 Door to Door The Boy Scouts of America will assist in door-to-door canvassing along with the Youth Coalition group from each high school. Promotions Spanish Radio Stations will be contacted and the Mayor and Estella will speak translating the brochure on the air. Estella has arranged for translation for the brochure. Letters to the Editor of the Idaho Press Tribune are due on the 15 of January and each member of the steering committee has agreed to write one letter. The Caldwell Chamber of Commerce will also write a letter of support for the Police Station Bond Election and send out a mass fax to members reminding them to vote. The Mayors' Youth Advisory Board will share their theme "Help Them Help Us" in the door to door contacts. Miscellaneous Discussions regarding times and dates for the upcoming meetings have resolved that all future meetings will be held in the same room at the same 5:00 p.m. time with calls and fax reminders to go out to all Steering Committee members. The next meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on January 10"', 2000 in the Council Meeting Room Upstairs City Hall. The following meetings will be held on January 17, 24, 25, 31 and February 1�`, 2000 in locations to be announced.
