We have made some progress but this is a long term issue and will take several years. Costs continue to rise with the price of gas and fertilizer being the main concern, along with unexpected problems with the heating system has put our budget in a crunch. We are working with the city and hope to have some good news with the land sale however so far we have been unable to get any acceptable offers. REPORT FROM JOHN WATSON John reports that we are still up for the year in revenues. Lenny is down a little for the year overall but that is due to passes not being sold at Fairview. His green fee revenue is actually up. John states the course continues to look great and they are still getting great reviews from players. REPORT FROM LENNY STROUP Lenny reports that his overall figures are down for the year but this is due mainly to no passes being sold at Fairview. His overall green fee revenue is up for the year this due to the success of the 10.00 green fee. Lenny also asked where we are with the defibulator • issue. This issue had been pushed back with all the land sale issues and budget concerns but we need to re-visit this topic as we would all feel very bad if one of our fellow golfers had a heart attack on the course and we could have possibly saved them with a portable defibulator. Ken will look into the pricing of two of these units and will report back next meeting. OLD BUSINESS The chairman passed on a message from the city attorney concerning the Tim Nielson incident. The city attorney felt that since there was no written rule covering this incident that the life time ban was not the way to go on this. He suggested that we suspend his privileges without refund for the period of one year. Since this was the recommendation of the city attorney there was no vote taken but it was agreed we would do as he stated. The city attorney also recommended we adopt the following policy and add this to our web site and to the rules sheet which will be given out next year with our season passes. It reads as follows. "Any illegal activity, obscene or offensive language, gestures or acts, threats or violence of any kind, abuse of or damage to golf course facilities, refusal to comply with reasonable instruction from golf course officials, may result in loss of play privileges up to and including a lifetime ban from play." • The motion was made to adopt this policy and seconded. The motion passed unanimously. . .. . NEW BUSINESS Terry Frill addressed the board and read a letter he had written. His letter had several questions and statements concerning the current operation of the golf course but was mainly directed at the possible closure of the course during December and January. He felt that they had purchased a pass for all twelve months and that they should be able to play weather permitting for all twelve. He argued that the pass fees should be prorated equally for all months and therefore we would not be losing money over the winter. Other guests in the room shared his opinion. Steve Jones stated he had 50 plus emails from CMGA members stating that they felt the closure was unfair and not warranted. The chairman explained that this decision had not yet been made but that in our current financial situation we could not afford to lose an additional six to eight thousand dollars to stay open just to accommodate a few hearty golfers who wish to play during these months. For over 30 years the course closed for these months with out a hitch. We began staying open shortly after Mayor Nancolas took office. This was right in the middle of the golf boom of the 1990s. Initially this was a good move and many years we actually did make money but over the past few we have lost a considerable amount during this time and can no longer afford to do so. • Because we do not need to make this decision at this time and would like hear some solutions on how we can stay open without loosing money this was tabled until next meeting. We asked the folks who attended the meeting to bring ideas to the next meeting as we would like nothing more than to keep the course open. The meeting was then adjourned. .
