HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-06-1995 WELLNESS MINUTES (2) Minutes of Wellness Committee Meeting of January 6, 1995 Present: Michelle Davis, Chris Farnsworth, Barbara Hart, Mary Hawker, Carol Howell, Judy Subia, Mark Wendelsdort, Liz Yeary Carol called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and said that the main purpose of the meeting was to discuss a request for sick leave pool hours for Mark Davis. Mark had originally requested 40 hours earlier in the year and used 17.75. He has since had surgery to correct the problem and has requested a further 134 hours to bring this to an approximate total of 151.75 hours. (His doctor is recommending leave until February 1.) Judy asked if such cases are reviewed from a personnel angle, and employees found non-physical jobs for an interim. Carol said she would mention this to the Mayor as the committee considered this a positive step. Liz offered a Motion to approve the request for hours, with a comment that Carol contact the Mayor's office concerning the possibility of people unable to do their physical job, being assigned to desk jobs temporarily. Judy seconded the Motion which passed unanimously. The second item on the agenda was a review of classes and possible future classes. The Committee was generally supportive of the classes in terms of employee morale and education. Mary commented that she had been given ideas for future classes from Sally Bouvia at West Valley Medical Center, and she agreed to talk to Sally about setting up a class in late February or early March. Carol then gave a brief overview of the health and dental claims. They appear to be higher than average but since they reflect year end claims that are normally higher we will review the picture in two months and see where we stand. Council has requested a six month review at that time also. The Committee decided to leave membership as it is for now. Liz brought up a request from Ed Christopher for reimbursement concerning a disputed bill which was reduced because of his query. The Committee agreed that he should receive the 25% of the $49.00 savings. With no further business the meeting adjourned at 9:45 a.m. Respectfully submitted - L Liz Yeary Secretary '
