It was decided that the fund be set up at First Security Bank as
soon as the budget year goes into effect.
Following the last meeting, the chiefs present got together and
decided that an Alternative Light Source (Lazer) was a first on
their list for equipment purchased. Cost of such runs
approximately $10,000. It was also decided that the equipment
would be housed at the Canyon County Crime Lab.
It was agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding be drawn ua
between the Cities to establish a mutual agreement of the Crime
Commission Coalition and the funds donated by each city. This
agreement should be similar to the CCNU agreement. Tim Spencer

The needs of each city were discussed. Caldwell is at this time
working with Wilder on the issue of vehicles.
The grant Nampa City has for the CCNU, which is a$110,000 grant
will be ending. Hopefully Caldwell or a neighboring city can
pick this grant up. The grant presentl,y pays for a part-tirie
secretary, the Owyhee County Officer, it subsidizes tre
Prosecutor's office and next year should add one more officer to
the Narcotics Unit.
Chief Bob Sobba briefed the Coalition on the recent drug bust in
Caldwell. One-hundred-thirty known heroin 'addicts have been
identified from Nampa, Caldwell, Canyon County and Ada County.
These were major dealers that were arrested. We received fifteen
indictments. Fift.y officers from seven agencies were involved
including Caldwell, Nampa, County, CCNU, DEA, State Tax and Ada
County.
Captain Crawford informed us that 2 people had been arrested at
Fred Meyers for shoplifting. $2,058 worth of inerchandise was
recovered in this shoplifting spree.
The topic of a juvenile detention center was discussed. There
is a substantial amount of red tape involved to get funding. The
Canyon County Commissioners are working on it at this time.
Garret Nancolas is to look in to private corporations assisting
in the funding of such a facility.
Donna Blackburn has been appointed the Canyon County Crime
Coalition Events Coordinator. Donna is from Caldwell and is
involved in various programs.
Bob Jarboe would like all of the City and County officials to
have a get together. He suggested a picnic and Boise Hawks game.
Cost would be approximately $15.00 per person. More information
to come.
The Next meeting of the Coalition will be held in September, we
will be advising you of the date. Please try to make the
meetings, t are very informative and we need yoiar imput.
