MINUTES SEPT. 1, 1998 ATTENDING Diane Miller Tim Miller Sheila McGregor Frank Wyant Tony Thompson Laurie Jakubowski Election of Officers were held Diane Miller President Kathi Wells Vice President Deann Best Secretary Mike Groff Treasurer OLD BUSINESS Diane discussed the Cazs for Kids program She has not heard from Larry Miller. Sheila will call Bob Fauhaber to see where they are at with this. DARE Raft Trip to Sun Valley for the Board Members has been cancelled due to the river being closed. Tony will try to make other arrangements next year. Tony, Diane and Sheila reported on the events held in August. All events went well with the exception of the Blues in the Park. We only had astro jtunp but the kids enjoyed that. Mayor"s Basketball game only netted $60.00 for each group. Everyone voted to give all the monies to the Mayors scholarship fund. Diane said the Mayor would like one or two DARE Boazd members to sit on the scholarship committee - 10% of the funds collected by C.A. Flemming will go towazd this scholarship also. Tony said the Day trip to Idaho City went extremely well and he believes an over night trip with the kids would go well. We took 12 kids. We had planned on 15, so it was well attended. The 24 Hour Relay is set with team members. Wendi, Sheila, and Diane will be getting letters out for things to bring they will be setting the menu. Youth Fest - Diane reported that Albertsons College of Idaho has made a commitment. She is waiting to hear form Sally Craven at Channel7 who is out of town. Premier Alliance contacted Mayor Nancolas saying that they were interested in being a major sponsor. � ISP vs Utah Jazz softball game wiil be Saturday, the 12`� at 2 P.M. - Tony will know about transportation 9-2-98. We will be taking 60 Jr. High age kids from around the Valley. Larry Miller Auto is sponsoring this event. Boise Sneakers- Diane reported that Suzanne Gruber of FMC has 40 youth tickets and 10 adult tickets for the game Sept. 15` GALS - No one has heard from Jerry Wolfe or any GALS boazd member as to whether they aze going to dissolve their organization. Board members all agreed that GALS would need to dissolve and ha.ve an audit before we could take any money or property. If GALS does not dissolve but does not continue their program, DARE /PAL will have a softball league for the girls. Sheila is going to get a current copy of C&B from the Secretary of State. NEW BUSINESS The youth football league asked for sponsorship of a PAL team. After much discussion it was decided to sponsor for $100.00. Last yeaz sponsor fee will not be paid as no one can remember saying we would be sponsors. New DARE officer Frank Wyant asked for DARE/PAL to please buy an ad in the VHS athletic directory as we have done in the past. This also passed for $125.00. We a.re going to put upda.ted info on the ad. IN LINE HOCKEY- Diane said that DARE/PAL has been approached by a Steve Mitchel who has a committee that has a league in Nampa. They need to know if we're interested. They need a facility and money. The DARE board voted to meet with their committee and look at the possibilities. Halloween Party- All board members were involved in a lively discussion as to what all we wanted at this yeazs party. Diane and Frank will be contacting the Drama departmen±s at Albertsons and VHS to do a haunted house. We woui_d sell _ food at Cafe O'Connor. Diane will put together a committee. The meeting adjoumed at 9:45 P.M. the ne� meeting will be October 6`� at 7P.M. at W.V.M.C.
