CALDWELL MAYOR'S COMMITTEE
FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF PERSONS WITH
DISABILITIES AND OLDER WORKERS
MINUTES
Meeting of January 9, 1992
Present: Elaine Roper, Leland VanSlyke, Kathie Green, MaryLou
Cooper, Teri Ottens, Don Thompson, and Larry Mitchell
The meeting was called to order at the Caldwell Elks Lodge at 12:00
noon.
The first item of business was the election of officers. Officers
were elected as follows:
Chair: Larry Mitchell, Vice-Chair: Don Thompson, Secretary/
Treasurer: Teri Ottens
The next item of business was the ADA Conference - Task Force
Update. Larry Mitchell reported he was unable to attend the last
meeting and therefore had no new information to report.
Don Thompson reported that a seminar has been arranged for local
businesses for information regarding the ADA and how it will affect
their businesses and hiring policies. It will be held at City Hall
on February 5th, 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. There will be a speaker
from the Human Rights Commission.
The next item of business was the Handicap Awareness Day. Teri
reported that Handicap Awareness Day is scheduled for late March
and the planning for this event should begin soon. After brief
discussion Teri agreed to call Cheryl Heinrich from WITCO and
discuss becoming the Chair for this event.
The guest speaker was Betty Van Gheluwe, ACSW from the Vet Center
in Boise. Betty gave interesting information regarding the
services and programs available at the Vet Center.
Don Thompson reported that JTPA contacted him and stated that there
are grant funds available for the placement of elderly workers.

With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
