Special Meeting November 21, 1997
Members present:Vada Givens, Lauren Stevens, Beryl Kingsbury,
Gwen Barney, Doris Ellis, Harvey Simmons, Virginia Figueredo,
Ray Keck, Leo Perez.
The meeting was called to order by Lauren Stevens at 11:30 am..
There was a discussion of the bonus problem . Ray Keck pointed
out that the thousand dollars is too large an amount for our
board to be giving. Only large corporations give an amount like
this. Leo Perez agreed with Ray on this point and also stated
that he was concerned that we could be in trouble with the
IRS if we continued with a bonus. The City Attorney had pointed
out to us when we sought his advice that we might be in trouble
with the IRS if we decided to give this bonus. A nice card
and $25 or maybe $50 was suggested but we could not come to
an agreement on this.
Ray Keck made a motion that we not pay a$1000bonus in 1997.
Second by Doris E11is.The vote was : Vada Givens-yes, Doris
Ellis-yes, Beryl Kingsbury-yes, Gwen Barney-yes, Harvey Simmons-
yes, Virginia Figueredo-yes, Ray Keck-yes, Leo Perez-no, Lauren
Stevens-no.
Leo Perez made a motion that we table the decision over the
gift for the cook and the coordinator for a later meeting.
Second by Beryl Kingsbury. 2--no, 4--yes, 3--abstain
Lauren Stevens was handed a copy of a letter which was read
to him stating that he was removed from office of chairman and
from the board. This letter contained 5 signatures of board
members. Vada Givens made a motion that Lauren Stevens be
removed from the office of chairman. Second by Virginia
Figueredo. It was agreed to have no discussion . The vot F ���._ . ��

Figueredo--yes, Leo Perez--abstain, Beryl Kingsbury--abstain, �
Harvey Simmons--yes, Ray Keck--abstain. Ray Keck pointed out
that we as a board didn't have the right to remove him from
the board because he had been elected at the general meeting
by a majority.
The meeting was turned over to Virginia Figueredo.Beryl Kingsbury
made a motion to adjourn. Gwen Seconded. Motion passed. Meeting
