~' CALDWELL SENIOR CITIZEN'S COMMISSION
MEETING OF JULY 17 1995
The meeting was called to order by chairman Lauren Stevens at 9:30 A.M.
The minutes of the June 19th meeting were read and accepted as read.
The Treasurer's Report was read and approved.
Dot presented the nutrition report for June. There were 2,023 senior
meals served and 51 non-senior meals, averaging $2.00 per person.
Bills presented for payment were:
Cleaning Maintenance $300.00
Shannon Distributing 3•55
Beryl Kingsbury '75.00
A discussion was held regarding the cleaning service not getting our floors
clean. Dot was asked to call the person in charge and register a complaint.
Lauren commented on the reason why he did not open for the pool layers
on Monday, July 3rd. Jim asked why he or someone could not have the key
to open for the pool players. Lauren explained it was for purposes of
control that there are a limited number of keys issued. He also explained
how if Jim had the key and were not available, he might conceivably pass
the key to another, etc. thus losing control of the key.
David Guzzetti of Baren Ellingsor. Food Service Supply, presented inform-
ation on the Blodgett convection oven. Kathy, our cook was asked to come
in and give her opinion or ask any questions she might have. Mr. Guzzetti
strongly recommended a gas oven rather than the electic. This was dis-
cussed at length due to the electrical problms experienced in the kitchen.
There is only one _ane in the kitchen operating properly at this time.
Only the oven works properly in the other one. Some discussion was held
regarding getting rid of that range, or getting it repaired or just
keeping it for the oven and having the wires to the top of the range dis-
connected. Mr. Guzzetti is to find out if it would be O.K. to set the
convection oven on the top of the range. He will also get some figures
together for us on the Hobart oven.
Lauren will check with the gas company.to see just what would be involved
with getting gas to the kitchen. Also he will check to see if the present
venting would be sufficient. The convection oven question will be dis-
cussed at the August 17th meeting.
There was general concern for the small numbers being served. Dot was
asked to get the board a comparison with the number of ineals erved a
year ago, as compared to this year.
Dot was asked to speak to Kathy about adding a little salt to the bread.
Lauren iniormed the board that the former cook, Jill Lindstrand, has again
applied for unemployment. There is to be a telephone hearing regarding
her request in Dot's office on Wednesday, July 19th. at 8 A.M. Ann Moyer
has requested that as many board members as possible attend.
. ,z= Caldwell Senior Center Commission-Meeting of July 17th.
.
Carl Christensen, the CPA who filed for an extension on our 990 tax form
has requested Power of Attorney to get information from IRS regarding
the Center's status. A vote was taken and unanimous approval given for
a Limited Power of Attorney.
Lauren reported that he still has not found a secretary, and asked for
suggestions from the board. He stated that Helen Mee has stated that she
would serve if no one else could be found, but she really does not want
the job. It was decided to continue looking for someone else.
Nlotion was made to adjourn by Lauren and seconded by Eleanor at 11:17 A.N1.
