HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-20-2000 SENIOR MINUTES 1 of 2 ' SENIOR CITIZEN BOARD REGULAR.MEETING MARCH 20, 2000 Meeting called to order by Chairperson Dennis Dillon at 9:35 a.m., followed by the salute to the flag. Roll call revealed 10 members present and 1 absent (Marie Pilote who was excUsed). Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed. Motion by Archie Gulley and seconded by Glenn Ward that minutes be accepted as presented. Motion carried. Treasurer's report: Balance on hand at end of February was $6,763.46. Motion by Glenn Ward and seconded by Elvin Rothell that treasurer's repert be accepted. Motion carried. Nutrition report by Ingrid Rose. She stated that there is a need for ' new muffin pans, at least six and preferably Teflon type. The pans on � hand are rusting and are no longer usable. There was a brief discussion as to how the pans would be paid for. Gwen Barney said that the cost be absorbed from Friday Bingo monies. Ingrid stated that attendance has been better lately. The motorcycle group that used the facilities last weekend left.everything in excellent condition. Finances in nutrition have been picking up and they are almost caught up on their bills. There has been no definite response from C.C.O.A. regarding their knowledge of the availability of a"handy man" who would be available to do various ��fix-up�� jobs at the Senior Center. Marie Pilote has been unable to contact any City Officer to "pin them down" as to the responsibility of the City. Suggestion was made that some one from the Board contact L.J.Waite, who is City Finance Direc- tor. Glenn Ward said that he would be willing to do minor "chores" in and around the Senior Center as needed. I Yen Averill spoke of the EOA (Elderly Opportunity Agency). Attempts have been made and will be made to cut support to Senior Centers. He encourages as many as can (the more the better) to attend the Area III meetings.The next meeting will be held at Parma. The coordinators and cooks receive paid vacations through EDA, and it is up to each senior center to furnish replacements for them while they are on vacation. Various fund raising events were discussed. Suggestion was made that a committee be appointed to pursue avenues of fund raisers. Nina Vaughn, Glenn Ward , Archie Gulley, and.Marie Wiley volunteered to serve on this committee. Two more people from the senior center will be asked to help. � 2 of 2 Senior.Board Meeting con't: A representative from the Senior,:Center/Board is needed to attend the monthly C.C.O.A. meetings on the fourth Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.. Dennis Dillon will the representative. Dennis Dillon commented that there are three.computers here, and that he would like to be able to take one, to learn more about computers and to also have the use of it. Motion made by Gwen Barney and seconded by Glenn Ward that Dennis be allowed to have the loan of a computer in his home. Motion carried.
