M I N U T E S September 20,1999 Caldwell Senior Citizens Board Meeting
President Dallas Dillon called the meeting to order at 9:34 AM. The minutes of
the previous meeting were approved after the following corrections: Health
Fair date at the center is October 14. Charlie's Birthday party will be held on
October 15th. Glenn Ward has two n's in his first name. Corrections noted.
Gwen Barney presented the financial report. Marie Pilote asked about the income
and other questions. Gwen explained the process. Gwen asked about the bill from
the fire extinguisher service and it was determined that it is a required inspection and
the bill will be paid.
Ingrid Rose gave the coordinators report. A total of 1,293 meals were served at the
center in August. This is down by about 200 but it was noted summer and
vacations play a part in attendance. Yellow cup donations totaled $207.89 and '�,
nutrition dollars is $4391.65 for the month. Mae Huston asked for an explanation '
of where the money went from the Activity Account. Ingrid explained the distribution
to the board. Ingrid reported tha.t the coffee pots are leaking. She was asked to look
into replacement parts versus new purchases. She talked about the alarm and the need
to bypass the monitor as wind blowing papers or other motion sets it off. Dallas will
call the Alarm Company . Glenn Ward moved and Archie Gulley seconded the motion
for the board to pay for re-supplying the First Aid Kit.
The recent inspection of the kitchen was good with the need for another emergency light
and occupancy sign . Jerry Langan will talk to the city and fire department.
It was suggested that anti-bacterial soap be used in the bathrooms. Ingrid will be speaking at the
at the ID.Trans. meeting being held at the center on Tuesday 9-21-99 regarding senior
transportation needs. Margaret stressed the importance of working with CCOA who
holds the contract for Canyon County. Ingrid asked for donations for the Xmas
Auction and shared tha.t Nutrition will be doing something similar to raise funds. Perhaps
sell raf�le tickets on a quilt.
It was agreed that the costs for Charley's bithday party will be paid by him and the
board will charge $1.00 per person for use of the facility.
The janitorial service was discussed. Dallas and Ingrid said that a kitchen helper is interested
in this position. It was determined tha.t we do not have Job Descri tions for the Ke

the facility very dirty and asked us to look into the cleaning policies.Margaret, Ma rie Pilote and
Mae Huston agreed to serve on a committee looking into this concern
and report back at the October meeting. Dallas will check into the legalities of hiring an SSI
recipient so as not to cause them to lose benefits. Glenn Wazd said such a change should give a
30 day notice if we decide to do this .
The boazd of directors joined Dallas in thanking Bonnie, Virgil, Ted and Ingrid for their
good work in getting donated food for the center.

Melba Senior Center. Mae Huston, Marie Pilote and Elvin Rothell offered to attend.
The bus leaves CCOA at 7:15. Breakfast will be served prior to the training.
Gwen asked about the roof repairs. Jerry said that he was informed that the roof was
repaired and that there was a two year guarantee on the work. The replacement
panelling in the meeting room was discussed. Glenn Ward offered to do the work
if the materials were available. Gwen Barney talked to the CPA and EOA is re-
sponsible for their own Form 990 ne� year.
The meeting adjourned at ll:00 AM.
