HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-13-2008 DEPOT MINUTES . . - , �PPE�tObE� �C..��_. Friends of the Depot Minutes March 13, 2008 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Rudy Lotz. Members present: Chairman Rudy Lotz, Jim Blacker, Debbie Geyer, Barbara Sayler, and Garianne Goslin. Absent: Margaret Langan and Clem Sahleen Agenda: A motion was made by Garianne Goslin, seconded by Jim Blacker to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes: A motion made by Jim Blacker, seconded by Debbie Geyer to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried. Finance Report: Since there have been no expenditures since the last meeting, no finance report was given. Old Business: 1. Costume Grant Update: Debbie reported in behalf of Clem that since the Friends of the Depot is not a 501 C3 organization, we do not qualify to apply for the costume grant. 2. Update on raffle tickets: Jim Blacker reported that he met with the Mayor's Youth Advisory Executive Committee and gained support to have the MYAC assist in selling raffle tickets for the quilt. He will report back in the April meeting as to his meeting with the entire MYAC and their response. It will be a three (3) week campaign to start April 28�'. Goal: $3,000 to $4,000. 4. Update on Interpretive Center: Debbie has sought information on RFQ's from such resources as the Boise Parks Department in connection with thee interpretive center in the Boise Depot. There has been no response to date. She will pursue and report back in April. 5. Upcoming Events in 2008: Garianne will complete a vendor's application for Friday Night Express for the Friends of the Depot. Debbie submitted an application for a . �, Canyon County Fair booth. The County staff will make a determination and respond to our request by April 1, 2008. NEW BUSINESS: l. Plans for Christmas tree lighting ceremony 2008: Ken Wien is working with Dennis Cannon to order lights for the depot. Ken will contact Gordon Reed concerning additional receptacles needed for plugging in lights on the depot dormers. The Mayor would like to see a"winter wonderful" type of activity at Christmas. 2. E. Clampus Vitus — Depot Signage: Debbie reported that Carl Blakley stopped by to report that the E. Clampus Vitus organization is still interested in pursuing historic signage at the depot. FOD obligation is estimated to be approximately $350. He will keep in touch with us. Estimated project is 2009. 3. Depot Restoration Project Update: It was reported that the pre-construction meeting with ITD/architect/Hills Construction/City staff is set for Apri12. Construction should be completed by July 4�' 4. Depot window broken: Rudi reported that a window is cracked on the back side of the depot. Debbie will report this to Vinton Howell, City Facilities Manager. 5. Reorder inventory of shirts & hats: It was determined that we need to look at our previous arder(s) for shirts and hats at the next meeting.
