HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-10-2008 DEPOT MINUTES � "` , � ' CALDWELL FRIENDS OF THE DEPOT JULY 10, 2008 MINUTES APPROVED ' The meeting was called to order by Debbie Geyer. " Members present: Garianne Goslin, Debbie Geyer, Barbara Sayler, Lenore Johnston Clem Sahleen and Margaret Langan Absent: Rudy Lotz and Jim Blacker, Barbara Lotz and Sherry Brockman Agenda: After a motion by Garianne/second by Barbara, the agenda was approved. June Minutes: After an amendment to the date of July 19th regarding a meeting with the Nampa Historical society, a motion by Garianne and a second by Lenore, the minutes were approved. Finance Report: Due to no expenditures this month, there was no finance report. Old Business: Report on Friday Night Express - July 4 Event: Garianne reported that the event went very well. A large enthusiastic crowd enjoyed a lively band, great food. The various vendors were happy. The FOD booth made $103.00 on the donated 4` of July basket. The clean up was completed in 30 minutes. The Boy Scouts helped. Debbie suggested that we invite several of the Caldwell Fire Department for the August event. There will be a car show. The Acapulco Restaurant will provide food. The date is August lst. Upcoming events in 2008 Canyon County Fair July 24 through July 27 Margaret shared a volunteer schedule for the FOD Booth. We need volunteers for Thursday 11:00 to 2:30 PM and 5:30 to 9:00 PM. Friday and Saturday are filled but Sunday is in need of volunteers all day. Margaret presented two checks for $50.00 each from AARP and TRIAD to help with the interpretive center. Garianne is making a sign for the fair booth regarding our Depot Grand opening and one to solicit railroad donations for the depot. Debbie suggested that we pursue getting a curator for the depot. We need someone on board to take care of the records. Perhaps a Vista Volunteer. New Business: Recommendations for Agreements - Interpretive center - City Atty: The committee discussed the recommendations made by the city attorney . �" � ' regarding acquisition of display items at the train depot. It was agreed that the temporary loan agreement be discarded and that all items be acknowledged II.as outright gifts. This would be in the best interest of the Friends of the Depot. Wording on the Collection Policy in the last paragraph was changed to read: "Friends of the Depot assumes no responsibility or liability to donors for the safe keeping of objects and materials." Debbie reported that the gentlemen from La Vitis has donated a railroad push cart. It is heavy duty and can be used as an easel . It will be chained to the outside of the building. On September 22" Debbie, Sherry, Barbara and Garianne will work on the displays in the depot. Debbie and Garianne will go to the State Archives to locate old locomotive pictures for our use. She encouraged us to drive by the depot as the windows are in the dormers and the painting inside is progressing. We have two weddings scheduled for August. The City Council is looking at increasing the rent for the facility. DAV Monthly Meetings Request: Debbie reported that she has referred the group to the Caldwell Library room as it is available on the night needed by the DAV at a reasonable cost. Debbie will check with Cindy's Quilt shop as to the progress on the quilt blocks. Meeting adj ourned at 1:00 PM. Respectfully submitted: Margaret Langan - Secretary
