HomeMy WebLinkAbout05-18-2009 DEPOT MINUTES � r'i Caldwetl Friends of the Depot May 18, 2009 Caldwell Train Depot 12:00 PM �� l Minutes The meeting was called to order by Rudi Lotz at 12:06PM. Members present: Rudi & Barbara Lotz, Debbie Geyer, Garianne Goslin, Dave & Sheila Williams, Ed & Ina Adler, Barb Sayler, Frank & Mary Ann Smith Agenda: A motion to approve the Agenda with additions was made by Dave Williams and seconded by Sheila Williams. The motion passed unanimously Minutes: The Minutes from April were approved as read with a motion by Barbara Lotz and a second by Barbara Sayler. Finance Report: Debbie Geyer reported that the current balance was $9,682.88 +$15 from the donation box. The balance in the contingency fund is about $4,400. The Street Department has donated their labor for the storage shed with a total bill thus far of $2,086.41 for materials. Mary Ann Smith moved to approve the financials as presented. Dave Williams seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Presentations: Clem Sahleen was presented with a plaque and gift certificate for her service to the Friends of the Depot. Old Business: Refrigerator Cabinet Update: Sheila & Dave Williams reported they continue to look into the types of materials to use. It was also suggested that the FOD look into renting/buying a portable wash station. Plaza Banner Alternatives: Sheila Williams will follow up with cost estimates. Canyon County Fair Booth: A sign up sheet was distributed for the Canyon County Fair July 23-26, 2009. Dave and Rudi will set-up on Wednesday. Adair Homes will co-sponsor the booth. Donation Box: Dave Williams reported that he is in the process of redesign. Marketing Tools: Garianne is still working on this and will also look into business cards. Volunteers in the Interpretive Center: Debbie passed out a check list of things to do when opening the Interpretive Center and a ., _ r� draft of historical talking points for the docents. Friday Night Express Events: The FOD will have the Cindy's Quilt show at the June S event, a watermelon feed on July 3 and ice cream social on August 7 Barbara will look into the cost of watermelons. Volunteers will be needed. E Clampus Vitus Historical Sign: Still no word on the progress of this project. New Business: Vest for Volunteers: Mary Ann Smith showed the group her talent in sewing and presented aprons to be used at the watermelon feed and ice cream social. She will work on vests also. Give-away Packets for Children: After a meeting, the subcommittee decided to start with one age goup and presented a concept for Kindergarten and 1 grade students involving Ernie the Engineer and Carl the Conductor. Debbie showed the group what they had in mind and all agreed that it was a good idea. Tables & Chairs: Debbie checked into the cost of 60" Round Tables ($107.27 X 6 =$643.62) and Folding Chairs ($18.95 X 36 =$682.22) for a total of $1,325.84 to add to existing stock. Dave Williams moved to make the purchase. Mary Ann Smith seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Bunting: Debbie priced patriotic bunting to be used on the front of the Train Depot at $130 plus shipping. Mary Ann Smith moved to purchase the bunting. Barbara Sayler seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Other Business: There was no other business to discuss. Adjourned: Dave Williams moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:13PM.
