Caldwell Train Depot

Minutes
A potluck was held in conjunction with the Regular Caldwell Friends of the Depot monthly
meeting. The potluck began at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by President Rudi Lotz 7:10 PM.
Members present: Steve and Shirley Alsup, Loretta Nicol, Pauline Walgamott, Frank and
MaryAnn Smith, Barb and Gayle Sayler, Ed and Ina Adler, Jerry and Margaret Langan,
David Persha, Jim and Sherri Blacker, Ron Garcean, Dave and Sheila Williams, Betty
Schisler, Debbie Geyer, Rudiger and Barbara Lotz.
Agenda:
Motion: Approve the agenda as presented. Moved by F. Smith and seconded by Barbara S..
Motion passed.
Minutes: The January and February 2010 minutes were not presented inasmuch as Garianne
was absent from the meeting.
Finance Report: Debbie Geyer reported a balance of $7,245.57 noting that no expenditures
have been made since the February 11, 2010 meeting. She reported that there is balance of
approximately $1,500 in the contingency account for the Friends ofthe Dept.
Moved by S. Alsup and seconded by M. Smith to approve the financials. Passed.
Old Business:
Refrigerator Cabinet Update:
Dave Williams reported that the refrigerator will be constructed by a volunteer. He would
only charge for the materials and donate his labor. Discussion followed concerning the type
of material that will be used. Barbara L. requested that the closet also include a storage area
for brooms/mops/etc.
Moved by B. Lotz, seconded by B. Sayler to approve the construction of the
refrigerator/storage closet. Passed.
Storage Shed Update:
Debbie reported that the cement slab estimate from Lambert construction amounted to $840.
The Street Deparhnent will assist by removing the building while the concrete slab is being
constructed.
Moved by S. Williams, seconded by E. Adler to proceed forward as soon as possible with

the concrete work under the storage shed per the estimate by Lambert Construction.
New Business:
Report from the Membership Committee:
Barbara reported that the committee is working to secure the Home Extension Master
Gardener to attend the April8 meeting and present information about gardening. There is
a possibility that they might also be available for a demonstration on Apri13` during the
tour hours. Debbie reported that there is a scheduled tour in the depot on April3 from
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sheila and Barbara will confirm with the Home Extension Office
concerning the dates.
Barbara noted that the Model Railroad Club is planning to participate in the August Friday
Night Express by setting up a display in the depot for August 6'�'.
Discussion was held concerning the avenues of inedia for publicizing the meetings. Debbie
will verify that the meeting information is put on the City website as well as the FOD
website.
Ina and MaryAnne will contact Debbie concerning various contacts for media publicity.
Special Presentation:
A presentation was given by Debbie Geyer, City Clerk concerning the depot's restoration
project over the past 7 years. She presented a shadow box picture to the Friends of the Depot
containing historical artifacts involving the depot and the original city hall.
NEXT MEETING:
April 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the depot. Speiial feature will be announced later.
