Chairman Carter welcomed the group and introductions followed. The
agenda was distributed and no additions were noted. He then gave an
overview of the conceptual plans for the Depot and the Plaza. He shared
information regarding the renovation of the Depot and of the committees
plan for an Interpretive center at one end of the facility that would tell
the story of Caldwell as it relates to the trains. The center section may
hold a kiosk for coffee and pastries that can be moved or drawn back
for larger rental functions. We want to get the people use to coming to
the Plaza and Depot area. He told of the support we have from the Mayor
and City Council members.
Debbie Geyer gave a status report on the plans for the Plaza. She shared
that phase one is scheduled to start in June. The old asphalt will be
torn out in preparation for constructing the Plaza area with a fountain
• similar to that on the Grove in Boise. The 2 grant is scheduled to
start 10/1/OS with the Depot renovation to be completed in one year,
in time for the 100 birthday celebration of the Depot. It is the
attitude of the committee that we get it completed as historically as
we can make it. We do want a functional facility. Debbie informed
us that a group will be meeting to discuss the possibility of starting
a Farmers Market in Caldwell. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday
January 25 at the library.
John Lee shared information about our fundraising efforts with engraved
bricks and granite stones. These will be placed around the fountain and
in front of the Depot. He suggested that we make up a document for
purchasers that will show the location of their brick.
We discussed the penny drive that the Youth Advisory Group is
organizing in the schools. We want to have the bricks and stones
sold by the end of May. We are in need of additional help at this
time. John Lee displayed the t-shirts hats and sweatshirts that the
committee is selling.
John Lee explained the Art Train that will come to Caldwell.

This train has a Native American theme. There are from four
to five cars displaying art work. This will be open to the public.
We want to involve the schools, colleges, and others.
This 100 year celebration of the Depot will generate large
crowds.
Information was shared about the model trains and donated antique
display case.
Councilman Blacker stated that the plans for this renovation started
Two years ago. He said we are moving forward and have sold over
3800 bricks to date. He asked for any suggestions on who we can
get to chair our fundraising project. It was agreed that we need
to get more people involved with Friends of the Depot.
It was suggested that we have more open meetings with the
Community.
Chairman Carter thanked all those who attended.
