Members present: John Lee Chairman, Debbie Geyer, Jim Blacker, Bill Stobie and Margaret Langan. Absent - Betty Jo Keller, Clyde Hally and Lanore Johnston Chairman Lee stated that Betty Jo Keller had contacted him and is resigning from the Friends of the Depot Advisory Boaxd• Debbie shared that she had approached Clem Sahleen about serving on the FOD board. Clem is interested but unable to meet on Wednesday. A motion was made by Bill Stobie and SECONDED by Jim Blacker that the meetings be moved to the 2 Tuesday of the month. The Motion CARRIED. � The minutes of the Maxch meeting were approved. MOVED by Bill Stobie and SECONDED by Debbie Geyer - MOTION CARRIED. FINANCIAL REPORT; Debbie gave the Financial Report. We have spent $562.50 for brick laying, $275.for the bricks and the $350 for the canopy. There is a balance on hand of approximately $15,300.00. We have six canopies for the Friday Night Express function. One for FOD and the other five sponsored by various agencies. A logo will be placed at the top of the canopy showing sponsorship. UPDATE ON TR.AIN DEPOT RENOVATION PROJECT: The bids for the renovation of the depot have gone out. Five bid packages requested to date. The bid opening will occur on Apri121 at City Hall. The City Engineering Department will assist as well as representatives from Cole-Poe. Debbie said that Gordon Law of the Engineering Department has stated that all bids coming in lately have been over budget due to a lot of construction taking place in the valley. The successful bidder will be approved by the City Council at their meeting on May lst. MODEL RAILROAD DISPLAY BIDS: • . - .,. . Chairtnan Lee discussed the agreement between FOD and Terry Weymouth of Custom II Carpentry. They agree to provide the bench work for the model railroad layout. The bench work will be 18'x4' wide on one side and 18'x3' on the other side. Weymouth will build brackets for the 2x4 glass that will go around the outer edge of the layout and the frame work for glass to cover the top. FOD will provide the glass for the layout at a cost of around $1500. The cost of the bench work will not exceed $3,000. Weymouth will be prepared to begin work once notified of 30 days to completion of the Depot. John Lee stated that the top over the layout needs to be secured in order to keep dirt and debree out.. Weymouth recommended an awning to go over the top. ART FUNDRAISER; Debbie showed costs and samples of the depot print. It was recommended that we set aside 100 to be signed with a few framed to sell for higher prices. Debbie has not heard back from Jon Carter as he was to get in touch with Melva Allen. Melva is our contact to the artist who painted the picture. Discussion took place regarding profession frames. Debbie will check with a local framer to discuss price. When copies purchased Debbie has agreed. to store them in her home. John Lee shared a picture of the cabinet that we have purchased from a local church. � FRIDAY NIGHT EXPRESS AT THE DEPOT BOOTH: The Caldwell Friday Night Express events were discussed. June 2 is Beach Night. Margaret, John and Bill have agreed to host the FOD booth for the event. We will sell t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Debbie asked the committee to solicit more vendors for the event. We agreed to donate a couple of shirts and hats for door prizes. All vendor booths will be asked to donate raffle items. NEW BUSINESS - BOISE - TRA1N MEETING - BOOTH John Lee shared information about the National Model Railroad Group's meeting in Boise on Apri129�'. He will take some of our shirts and hats over to the event. It was noted that we no longer have any x-large sweatshirts. John will inventory our supply so we will have an idea of what is on hand. Chairman Lee had on hand for display a model Depot kit. He stated that we will need at least 3 blocks for our display. He will look for someone with an interest in painting and assisting with this project. Jim Blacker suggested we supply a recognition plaque for those helping complete this project and that it be on display at the depot.
