FOD November 15, 2006 Minutes
Present: Chairman John Lee, Debbie Geyer, Jim Blacker, Garianne Goslin,
Margaret Langan and Lenore Johnston
Absent: Clyde Hally, Bill Stobie and Clem Sahleen
The agenda was distributed and two items were added under New Business:
Web Page and New member.
Jim Blacker moved and John Lee seconded a motion to approve the minutes
of October 3 l O and 25 The motion carried.
FINANCE REPORT:
Debbie reported that we have had more picture sales and earned income
on t-shirts, hats and sweatshirts. Final tally is around $10,000.
Rental Requests:
We currently ha�e seven rental requests for the depot to date.
OLD BUSINESS:
A. 100 year Celebration.
Many positive statements were shared by the committee regarding the
• success of the 100 year birthday party for the Caldwell Train Depot.
Debbie relayed that the Rotary Club has rented the facility for a Christmas
Show after the Caldwell Light Parade on December 2
Discussion included a possible FOD sponsored "Old Fashioned Christmas"
be held in conjunction with future Light Parades. Carolers, old fashioned dress
photos with Frosty, Mrs. Claus and elves were all suggested.
Jim Blacker suggested that a permanent sign be placed in the window
regaxding rental of the depot and who to contact. Garianne will look
into making the sign.
Sheila McGregor, coordinator of the Caldwell Farmers Market Project
Contacted Debbie about moving the Market to the Plaza next year.
Debbie will put together an agreement.
B. Basement Project.
A Boy scout Jacob Daily is interested in cleaning up the base-
ment in the depot as an Eagle Project. He is working on getting the
necessary approval. This would include: clean-up, removing the boiler,
florescent lighting, framing, sheet rock and vinyl on the floor. He is
working on getting the materials donated.
C. Funding for Tables and Chairs:
It was agreed that we. need to ha�e tables and chairs a�ailable for renters
of the depot. We need approximately 20 tables that fold in the center and 120 chairs.

Jim Blacker has contacted the City Council regarding allowing FOD to
use $5,000. of the money that was set aside for the Artrain that has been
cancelled to be used to purchase tables & chairs etc. City Council Members
will vote on this November 20th.
New Business:
A. Charge for wedding in the plaza:
Requests are coming in to rent the depot and over flow to the plaza.
After much discussion it was agreed that we will rent the depot and
the plaza together for $200.00. Just the plaza without conveniences
(water and restrooms) will be $60.00 for four hours and $100.over
four hours. A nice sign will be purchased stating Weddin�
Pro ress will be available for use. The refundable clean-up deposit
will continue at $50.00. Debbie will work up the contracts.
B. Agreement with Jim Hambleton (wooden train)
Because the Interpretive center is not completed and we have a wooden
train on loan to FOD, a contract will be put together regarding agreements.
C. Lock on Display Cabinet:
Debbie advised a locksmith is coming tomorrow to place a secure lock
on the display case as well as a deadbolt on the basement door . One of
• the bathroom doors also needs to be looked at.
D. Depot Website:
Chairman Lee advised that his nephew will design the FOD website for a
senior class project. A picture of the depot and an animated train will be used.
He will work with Garianne on graphics. This will be linked to the City.
E. New FOD Committee member
Garianne Goslin was approved to serve as a new member to the FOD
Advisory Committee.
Other discussion included an entry rug for the entrance to the depot.
Debbie will look into pricing for the tables, chairs and rug.
