HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-09-2007 DEPOT MINUTES � �,.. w � APP�iOVEI� Caldwell Friends of the Depot October 9, 2007 Minutes Members Present: Lenore Johnston, Barbara Sayler, Rudiger Lotz, Chairman John Lee, Jim Blacker, Debbie Geyer, Clem Sahleen and Margaret Langan. Absent: Garianne Goslin and Shirley Alsup The agenda and minutes of the September meeting were distributed. Two items were added to the Agenda "Ribbon Cutting 10/17/07" and "Borrowed items at the Depot" under New Business. Motion by Jim Black to accept the September meeting minutes was followed by a second from Rudy Lotz, and the motion passed. Finance Report: Debbie reported that we continue with around $11,000 . She asked for approval of a $43.52 purchase of die cast trains. A motion was made by Margaret with a second by Rudy. The motion passed. • Old Business: Boy Scout Troop #227 John Lee told of the train and car donations from Linda Waner in memory of her husband Lloyd Waner. John has the entire list and recognition will be forthcoming. The committee discussed the need to clarify gifts and loaned items with a agreement for the donor to sign as to our ability to display or sell the items. The liability to the depot is a concern should we damage or lose the items. We need to be clear in the signed agreement to protect ourselves. Webpage: Clem has the webpage completed. She is working on some music. It will be updated periodically. It includes a link to the Friday Nite Express, City and Indian Creek. She invited the committee to view the webpage following the meeting. Christmas Event: The Christmas tree lighting will occur 1/2 later this year. We will sponsor the event and arrange for entertainment at the Pioneer Plaza. The committee will hand out flyers outlining next years event which will be in front of the depot. Lots of lights are the priority. We can advertise the event through the Chamber of Commerce. • Stencil for Depot Tables & Chairs: Tabled till next month. . ; � � � 11. Update on Overall display case: Rudy reported that he is laying out the track and it should be com- pleted this month. He will mark the area for the electrician to install an outlet inside the door on the floor of the Interpretive Center. This will be by the counter. Debbie reported that the bid will go out Thursday then to the City Council the end of the month. The contractor will need access to the area once awarded. She said we do have funding left that will cover the outlets. However we do need to secure future funding for the Interpretive center. New Business: Update of Quilt Raffle: Margaret reported that the Syringa Quilting group is giving us the quilt. We need to have special tickets made up and sell raffle tickets at the Christmas Craft Show in November. It was agreed to charge $1.00 a ticket or six for $5.00. Clem will arrange to get a picture of the quilt and place it on the webpage. The committee decided to sell changes through 2008 and draw for the winner at the December Tree lighting at the depot. All proceeds will go to fund the costs of the Interpretive Center in the depot. Margaret will arrange for . volunteers for the Craft Show at O'Connor Field House 11/9 and 11/10. Ribbon Cutting: Debbie asked for volunteers to serve cake and punch at the Ribbon Cutting on 10/17. Barbara, Rudy, Lenore will assist. Borrowed Items at the Depot: Further discussion occurred regarding the need for the committee to work on guidelines regarding loaned items given to FOD.
