1) CHAIRMAN`S REPORT
Chairman Cooper reported to the board that the Mayor's Tourney was a big success.
John Watson did a great job in running the event.
Cooper reported that he had received a phone call from a golfer who lodged a
complaint that the rough at Purple Sage was too tall. He said that it made the
balls too hard to find. The caller would not give him his name. John Watson said
he had not received any complaints. Gordy said the rough was cut at 2 inches and
that they are mowed twice a week.
2) REPORT FROM JOHN WATSON
John reports a small gain in Apri1 at Purple Sage in spite of the cool weather.
.
John has had a request from the coroner's association for a tournament. He tol$
• them tYre weekend after Labor Day would be a possibility because the greens will have
just been punched.
3) REpORT FROM LENNY STROUP
Lenny reports slow play in April due to the cool weather. He reports 34 days of
lost revenue in January and February because of the snow. He also is not looking
forward to the sewer pipe going through the course in June.
Lenny said that the cart storage building has sustained a lot of theft and
vandalism. He suggests that a lock box be installed on this building. It will cost
about $500 to install this system.
Larry Rich made a motion, seconded by Shirley Akagi that we ask the city council to
appropriate money to install a lock box system on the cart storage shed at Fairview.
The motion passed unanimously.
Brad Stanley, a purple Sage employee, bought a season pass in February from Lenny.
Since he is now a city employee, he requested a refund which the board approved.
Lenny was asked to handle the refund.
A discussion was held on the possibility of a freeway sign telling about the
downtown Fairview course in Caldwell.
Lenny reported that the U.S. Kids golf program is off and running at Fairview.
4) REPORT FROM GORDY CROCKETT
. Gordy reports that the grass is growing like crazy and it is hard to keep up with
it. Gordy showed the board the plans for the new rest rooms at Purple Sage.
