Cooper said that Shannon Ozuna had talked to him about the proposal and indicated that she has serious reservations about letting the Life Flite people intrude onto our golf course unless they demonstrate that they have exhausted ail possible alternative sites. She feeis that there shouid be other spots around the hospital that would be suitable for a landing site. She also said that she has told the City Council of her feeling that this isn't a good idea. Shannon said that in checking she found that the plane is sometimes on the ground for over 1 hour. Having to stop play for this length of time would seriously damage our credibility as a viable golf course. Cooper read a letter from Mr. Bob Zach the Life Flite representative. It emphasized that 1) this is Caldwell's helipad; it must have community ownership 2) A primary objective is to minimize any adverse impact on the golf course and 3) The safety for the flight teams, pedestrians, golfers and the patients must be included in the design. Jeff Osgood said that two things that are important are 1) they cannot stop play and 2) it cannot cost us any money. Cooper asked Shannon Ozuna if she had talked to the Mayor. She said he told her that no decision had been made by the city and that they were looking to the golf board for guidance. At this point the Life Flite reps entered the meeting. Bob Zach said that they had not been able to find any other suitable spot to place the • heliport. Loraine Navis told them that a Mr. Adams, whose home is on Elm Street, died and that this property might be available for purchase. This could be a possible landing site. Mr. Zach said they would look into this possibility. After a lengthy discussion of the many problems involved in this endeavor Mr. Zach and Mr. Sheldon left the meeting. 2) REPORT FROM GLEN KUSHLAN Glen said things are gaing very well. He said they are applying treatment for billbugs. Cooper asked Glen when they were going to put up the rest of the colored yardage stakes. Glen said they haven't put them up and he didn't know if they would because they have white 150 yard states and lettering on the cart path for 200 yards and 100 yards. Shirley Akagi said people want the red and blue stakes in addition to the white stakes. Pat Inglis concurred that the players want the other stakes back. Caoper said that if the golf board wants the colored stakes put up then Glen should put them up. Elvin Simpson said he agreed with this. Cooper said if Vinton Howell is Glen's boss then the golf board is telling Vinton Howell to tell Gler to put the colored yardage stakes up. Vinton Howell said he would get together with Glen and come up with the best markers, possible flexible ones that won't break if hit by a golf cart. • Cooper told Glen that the course really looks great, very well manicured. l 3) REPORT ROM JHN SHREINER John said everything is going great.
