Meeting of the Caldwell Golf Board was held at City Hall on September 12
at 8:00 a.m.
Members Present: Council-Liaison Bob Jarboe, Bob Sower, Kris Inouye
�dim Guy,Laura Gamboa. Pro John Watson, Pro Troy Vitek
Supt. Gordy Crockett.
Representing Men's Association Bill Ballard;
Representing Ladies Association Bonnie Elgin:
Members Absent: Rick Sweaney & Ric Coles..( Rick Sweaney absent in Hospital
Laura called the meeting to order and announced that the next meeeting
would be held on Wednesday October 10 at 8:00 a.m. '
Copies of the August meeting and golf receipts were handed to each member.
Laura read a letter from Mr. Wesley Johnson, from Nampa requesting a
refund on a season ticket for he and his wife- his age 90- hers 85.
due to ill health, etc.They have been unable to use the pass, played
5 holes one day and 7 another but find they are unable to play. The
board felt that in a case like this they would go ahead and give them the
full refund of $180.00. Motion made by Jim Guy,seconded by Bob Sower
motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Gordy Crockett reported on the cost of putting two fountains on the
sides of the restrooms at Purple Sage, the cost would be $150.00and the
cost of the electricity would be $2,000.
Gordy said this way there will be heat in the restrooms and will be able
to keep them open longer.,
Gordy said he talked with the Benchcraft people and they will put the
tee signs with yardage and advertising but that no other advertising can
be on those benches and hanging signs.
Gordy also had an estimate on the cost of the cart paths. The asphalt
would be $ 18.90 a ton. ,
We have $34,000 in the budget for the cart paths this year this would
do about 11 holes, starting with #1- they would be 6foot wide.
Bill Ballard said the men's association would be sending out a newsletter
right away and they could ask the members for donations towards the cart
paths and this way we could get all 18 holes done if we get extra money.
Bob Sower said we should start a drive as soon as possible ,motion made
by Bob seconded by Kris Inouye. Motion carried.
Laura asked Bill Ballard if he and Jim Guy would take care of this, they
would send a letter to all cart owners, etc.
Bob Jarboe said not to set a minimum amount, we will be happy to getwhat
they can donate.
Troy Vitek said he has been unable to contact the company about the
scorecards, they have not shipped the cards but did send a bill for them.
Troy said he will keep trying.
Troy said he has a Simplot tournament on the 28th of this month ,about 60
people course will be closed for two hours.
Kris Inouye said he is still working with the banks trying to get a nice
map of the course like the one at Clear Lakes.The cost of that was $ 4,000
Kris was asked to contact Cal Clevenger at the Fire Station.
Jim Guy asked if we knew what the balance would be in our golf at the end
of Sept.
Laura said we would ask Lisa and Terry to the next meeting., '
Jim said that with Gn many tournaments that are being held the season
ticket holders are unhappy on weekends.
John Watson said that we are having so many that we will have to be very
careful, we will have to take a good look at th� reQUests.
The board felt that we can take this issue inQecember or January and set
up some policy.
Kris Snouye said it isn't just tournaments anymore that more people are
taking up golf and that people are going to accept the fact that they just
can t go out and tee off as in years past, these people are going to
have to learn to make tee times. �
John Watson said he has a request to hold the State High School tournament
in 1993 this is late in May. Board approved this request.Friday & Saturday.
John said he gave four foursome passes for the Newt Carter tournament
A charity tournament.
John said he had a shotgun tournament on the 29th (Simplots)
John had a request from �ntermountain Gas for a tournament on Sunday
June 9,1991 at 7:30 a.m. course would be closed until 12;30
Board gave permission for this. Jim Guy abstained.
John said we have had a very good year showing an $84,320.22 increase
over last year at this time.
Bonnie Elgin said the Ladies bought two coolers and they� h,3v� ordered
cup dispensers, these can be used whenever they have tournaments or
Invitationals, etc.
Bob Jarboe said he would see what can be done about getting a few picnic
tables for the outdoor patio at the scoreboard, see about extending the
cement floor and have that fixed . Gordy, Bob & Laura to check this out.
Laura asked Gordy if the door knob on the ladies restroom at Fairview
could be taken care of.
With no further business meeting adjourned at 9:30 a.m.
